One month post op

I'm feeling really good now! I've been able to sleep on my side for a week or so -- thank goodness because I was not sleeping well in one position all night long! I've never been a back sleeper so that part of the recovery process was very difficult!

I'm starting to exercise again, and have started power walking 3 miles. I'm hoping to start jogging again this week. The bruises are all gone, although I'm still a bit tender along my sides and upper shoulders from the lipo. And, the spot where the epidural was inserted is still very sensitive. My doc said I could cut off the protruding ends of all my dissolvable stitches, so now all I have is my scars which are completely closed. I've started putting silicone strips on them to help fade them more quickly.

My big disappointment with this surgery is that I was really hoping to get rid of all the stretch marks on my stomach, and that didn't happen. I had a few tiny ones above my belly button prior to surgery, and now that the skin has been pulled down and pulled tight, they are much longer and are between my belly button and my pubis. My doc prescribed a cream that is supposed to help fade them. I sure hope that works!

Lastly, my stomach is still a bit swollen. I know that is to be expected, but I'm anxious to see myself completely flat. I'm not a patient person! :)

Even without a flat stomach, I know the swelling has gone down a lot since leaving the Dominican Republic. When I left, my size small faja was on the 2nd row with foam boards on my sides only. I added a foam board to my front and was wearing the faja on the 3rd row, so my Mom took the faja in by sewing a 1.5 inch seam up the back. Well, I'm now on the 3rd row again, so will be asking my my to sew it one more time! I've lost 2.5 inches on my waist since pre-surgery. My hip measurements seem to be the same which make sense because I didn't have a BBL. My weight is also the same, which actually means I did lose weight because I'm sure my BA added some weight up top. :)

Overall, I'm still very pleased with my decision to go to the Dominican Republic to have surgery with Dr. Australia Fragoso Baez.

Recovery room at clinic/surgery center

Clean, comfortable, but it's not the USA!!!!

Stuff I didn't use... And items I needed more of

Wish I would have had more body wash cloths, antibacterial wipes and should have brought a towel (recovery house assumed i had one), and baby powder with me to put in my hair between washings! Was also really glad I had earplugs.... Roosters crow early in the morning and they allowed me to have quiet for napping any time of the day.
