I’m having sx December 11 with dr Duran. I’m going thru SurgiCoordinator. But I’m unsure of what recovery house to use??? Looking for a sx buddy I’m leaving from the dc area. I also see you guys talking about vitamins and I’m worried and underprepared bc I haven’t heard anything about what vitamins to take to prep for surgery. Please help I don’t want to be pushed back or turned away.

I don’t know I haven’t tested yet. Planning to do so after the holiday
Your hemoglobin level needs to be 12 for one 13 for two and you should have been tested to where it is.. and vitamin should be B complex iron tablets and vitamin C but check your hemo first
Ok. I know I’m not anemic and I take iron daily. As well as vitamin C. I thought you only needed extra iron if anemic, or else it can be toxic
You only take them to raise your hemo a few weeks before surgery....I would recommend to test your hemoglobin to see where it's at
how much is the house recovery? Are you staying the full 15 days?
I’m staying 18 Days. It’s around 1500
My hemo was in the high 12's when i went to the emergency room before quitting and not eating healthy but its good to power up so your recovery isn't draining the more iron in the blood the more oxygen you need to recover those are what the vitamins are for
Ok I’m vegan so im a little worried
As a vegan, you should be worried. Vegans tend to be borderline anemic. However, there are many supplements which are vegan friendly. The only caveat now is the timeline. Your sx date is approaching fast so you may have to get iron infusions while in the DR prior to surgery but I hope you have tested your blood by now. You don't want to go through all of this travel and cost only to be turned away by the doctor when you reach the Dominican Republic. They will not operate on you if you have not met the hemo minimum of 12. Good luck and I'll be following your progress.
