8 days post op
I'm struggling to sleep at night and through out the day, I've switched my "binder" (goes over boobs and belly a bit like a medical boob tube) for one of my bras - the Zuri Ginie Bra to see if I'm more comfortable to sleep.... I will put the binder back on in the morning. Any tips or advice on how to get some sleep would be great! As for what ever reason, I just can't :(

6 days post op
Past 3 days have been awful! I woke at 2am on Monday morning with shortness of breath, went to my local A&E and was admitted? I had a chest x Ray and a CT scan, after which I started shaking uncontrollably and my teeth were chattering... Not long after I was in agony. A lump formed to the left of my left breast, it was around the size of a cricket ball! My breast was really swollen and solid. I was left for 20+ hours in apsolute agony in the end. The hospital called a breast surgeon in (who saw me and told the doctors it was a hematoma - not sure I've spelt that right?) and that I needed surgery asap. At this point i'd already endured around 10 hours of pain....
I was told to sign a waiver for surgery and that the anethsist would be along shortly to see me before surgery... The hours tick by.... As do my tears of being in absolute agony. It was like some one continually stabbing me. I've never experienced pain like it before.
I felt like my breast was going to explode and I expressed this to the doctors whom said "its just a feeling" not long after my breast did pop as I felt it leaking all down my side and back!! This did relieve some pain, however I never should of been left for my skin to burst, it should of been done in surgery long before this happening!
At around 1-2am I expressed my discomfort and excruciating pain that I was experiencing and was questioning why I haven't gone to surgery yet... The answer was there are other people with life threatening conditions who needed surgery before me, however I will be operated on and the anethsist would be along to see me soon...
At around 5am a doctor came to speak to me and apologised saying they won't be operating on me as there are too many emergencies to deal with!!! Bearing in mind I'd been on the A&E ward for 27 hours at this point!! I was so upset at how they treated me.
They asked if I wanted transport to Dolan Park Hospital (The Hospital Group) or if my husband would drive me there... I asked for transport, given that it would be around 8am, my husband couldn't take me until 8:30am. And I was worried about my boob en route as you could imagine!
After I said I'd like the transport, the doctor and nurses told me that getting transport would be time consuming and would be better for my husband to take me... However I told them that I didn't mind waiting as I waited so long in pain that my breast split on its own to take the pressure away... A few more hours wouldn't make a difference! However, when I fell asleep, the doctor called my husband and asked him to pick me up and take me to Birmingham! I couldn't believe it, why ask me if I'd like transport then go behind my back calling my husband telling him he has to take me to the other hospital when I said I'd like the transport when given the option!?!
I was starved from around 12-1pm on Monday as I was told that I was going into surgery.... That went until 5:30pm the following day!! I was allowed a few sips of water at 6am and that was it until my surgery at Dolan Park.
My husband ended up picking me up, I was scared incase something happened in the car en route but the doctors/nurses told me to call an ambulance on the motorway if anything happens... Wonderful!
Thankfully the morphine I asked for before I walked out worked... I arrived at Dolan Park Hospital at around 11am where I was given more pain relief and was treated so much better. They did apparently expect me to arrive around 2am as i had contacted them at around half 9 the evening before to tell them what was happening and the doctor spoke to the sister in charge to explain also and apparently it was arranged for me to go up asap! .... However the doctor told me that she was going to operate as I was there already and it made sense... Not what was discussed over the phone!! I wish I knew I could of gone there at 10pm, as they planned to operate on me as soon as I got there! At least I wouldn't of spent all of the night in tears and pain!
I went for surgery at around 5pm, was seen by nurses and two surgeons followed by the anethisit then was taken by my bed to theatre (I had 7 failed attempts of a canular at Frimley Park hospital then one failed attempt at Dolan Park, so they put the canular in my foot!!) theatre went well, however I was enjoying the sleep as the past two nights I'd not had much sleep, an hour or two at the max! Apart from having some post op pain I felt so much better and brighter in myself!
I still recommend the hospital group, their service is second to none. However Frimley park Hospital has some wonderful staff but their care is beyond unexceptable in my case. Really dissapointed and I've never felt so much pain and fear being in a hospital. Here are photos of me pre surgery, as you can see my left breast is huge (on the right looking at the photos) will upload today's photos (post op shortly)
