I decided at 38 I’d had enough of being fat!! 17st and bloody miserable, always feeling like a second class citizen and hiding from the world.
Had my op in 2007 without a second thought at Dolan Park in Bromsgrove, one of the most exciting days of my life. Ten years on and 11st. Lighter and going from a size 22 to an 8 I have to say it did it’s job, HOWEVER, I have paid a huge price for having this surgery, my immune system is now compromised due to malabsorption, I tire very easily and I now have fibromyalgia. My teeth practically broke which now require fixing and my body now requires more surgery due to loosing my bust.
I look a million dollars but often feel awful and unwell. Unfortunately my band has slipped and needs surgery but I have no intention of taking it out, the thought of being fat again will never again be something I wish to return to.
After all said, I don’t regret having a band I just wish I had known about the effects it would have later on in life. It’s not an easy journey to take but for anyone thinking about it, remember to take care of yourself!!

but unfortunately it didnt work at all for me,my weight has slowly krept up did everything they told me to do in the end i paid for an xray as i was out of the aftercare package and they said i had a slow asphophagus and there is nothing you can do so they losened the band and refused to refill it ,so im so miffed bigger than i ever was having problems with intolerance to certain foods as they make me sick if i eat too fast or something hard like steak it get stuck in my throat snd i have to run to the bathroom its very embarrasing as my eyes bulge out my head as its like im choking and im 5,500 pound lighter for wanting to look my best and more importantly be healthy to day i would not recomend dolan park sally there rep is quick to have your money but not quick to help when it goes wrong or out of care package sorry but for me its been a horid nightmare
