Disappointed by PicoSure Treatments

I was looking for some gentle skin resurfacing primarily to remove sunspots from my face and even out my complexion, and decided Picosure would be the right treatment for me due to my propensity for hyperpigmentation (ethnic skin type). I went with Dr. Boudreault as he was one of the few doctors in the Bay Area whose office provided Picosure for this purpose. I had a perfectly nice consultation with him where he confidently suggested a package of three Picosure treatments to address my main concern, and also suggested that the Picosure might be able to reduce the size of my pores and some fine lines/wrinkles (lesser concerns that I brought up with him). I felt after my research that the 6 mm head should be safe to use and most effective, and he agreed that that should be fine.

I had my three treatments with a couple different nurses, and although I brought up each time that I preferred that they use the 6 mm head, they instead used the gentler 8 mm for the first two treatments. I did notice that a few darker freckles lightened after the Picosure treatments, with the most noticeable changes showing after the first treatment. I didn't notice much, if any, difference after the second or third treatment, and I took photos before and after each treatment for my own reference.

I think after my last treatment in the package they might have said to let them know if I wanted to purchase additional treatments, but I left with a sense of disappointment. I didn't get the results I wanted, and no one at the office asked if I was actually satisfied with the results of the package I'd purchased. If I'd had an idea of what the real results would be, I definitely would never have spent the $2200 (after discount). I can't help but wonder if I would have gotten better results if they had used the 6 mm head, as I'd requested.

Overall, I feel disappointed with the experience and wish I'd saved my money. Everyone in the office was very kind, but I still have the same sunspots that I'd wanted to remove. (They didn't go away and come back -- I use SPF45 PA++++ sunscreen every day.) I've actually seen better improvement in my skin from using a Vitamin C serum than I did from the Picosure treatments -- for 1% of the cost. I guess, at least, I didn't have to deal with any recovery times or damage from the laser, but I wish I had gone with a different doctor who suggested fractional laser at a lower cost, even though it would have required some downtime.
