Dermapen Ruined my Skin.

Last year I set out to get healing for my acne scars. I went to see an esthetician over at the skin center who quickly talked me out of getting chemical peels and turned my focus to microneedling, specifically the dermapen device. She said I would need at least a few sessions of this to see significant change in my scars. I opted out of purchasing four sessions and settled on one, which I then received via their RN Stephanie Mason in July. My first session went surprisingly well, and my healing time was within 4 to 5 days after. I didn't see significant improvement in my acne scars, aside from the initial swelling, but I did deal with quite a lot of dry skin afterwards, which mostly went away in a couple months time. I went in for my second session in September. This session was a lot more aggressive, I could feel the needles the whole time unlike the first session, and my skin remained red, raw and more swollen for the next two weeks after. When I called Ms Stephanie with the news of how my skin was reacting, she told me that the needling had caused my rosacea to react. In retrospect, I now see that this was not the case. My skin barrier had been significantly damaged by the treatment. Even after the redness went down, I am now left with a halo around my lips and my eyes and the bridge of my nose where it wasn't needled. The texture of my skin is now crepey, orange peel, and I have less volume overall. To add insult to injury, my scars look worse than they did before the treatment. Needless to say, I have become severely depressed by my appearance and am now seeking medication and looking into other options for my volume loss and texture refinement. I wouldn't recommend the dermapen device to my worst enemy. Anything that has the ability to destroy a person's face this bad should not be offered as a solution to people's skin woes. As for the skin center, I don't have any negative feeling toward the practitioner, per se. I'm just confused as to why they even offer this to their clientele when there are so many better options, particularly safer ones. SMH.
