How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Ever since I was 14, I had mild acne breakouts...
Ever since I was 14, I had mild acne breakouts (whiteheads, blackheads, no cysts). I had been on antibiotics and topicals such as clindamycin. This helped for a while but as I got older, into my 20s, my skin started to develop deep painful cysts. They were manageable and nothing severe but still bothersome. Then when I was 23, my skin had an explosive acne eruption (that is what my dermatologist called it). Over a course of two weeks, 150+ pustules and cysts erupted on my face. My derm actually counted them. I was put into a clinical trial for the topical drug Aczone, which worked wonders for my skin. However, once my acne cleared after a year of Aczone, Sulfacleanse wash, and arbutin acid, I was left with acne scars. I have had 3 PRP microneedling sessions, as well as a medical grade peel called the Melanage peel. These helped my skin a lot but my skin was still left with rolling scars down my cheeks, temples, and jaw line. So as a gift, I received a deep FX and active FX treatment by the Lumenis UltraPulse laser. I just had the procedure done on 1/5/18. I'm sharing my experience to give anyone else some insight into the procedure.
I was given Xanax (anxiety), Hydrocodone (pain killer), and prophylactic antibiotic and antiviral drugs to help prevent infection. I was also given lidocaine (topical anesthetic) and lidocaine injections to help numb my face for the laser.
The anxiety, pain killer, and numbing injections helped tremendously but the procedure itself was still uncomfortable. The pain is bearable, you just need to breathe. It was about 45 minutes long; she did 2 passes with the deepFX (deep scarring, wrinkles) and one pass with activeFX (large pores, uneven skin tone). My doctor was amazing, so it's really important to find a provider with experience.
I will post pictures as I go! Hopefully, my experience will give you some insight of the procedure, recovery, and results! Please feel free to ask questions. xox

My doctor is highly-trained, and has done this procedure multiple times. She walked through every step with me, and helped calm my nerves. Grateful to have been with such an experienced doctor. This is so important when getting any sort of laser treatment done.
