Derma rolling at home using 1mm

ORIGINAL POST

Derma rolling at home using 1mm

$10
Using a 1mm roller from Amazon £10
I have scarring and big pores and blackheads on nose and whiteheads on chin. I will mainly focus on the scars on my cheeks but will roll my whole face.
I will also be using TCA 25 on ice. Pick scarf on my cheeks.
I think I will roll every 2-3 weeks and will post progress pics before each roll.
I am doing this at home as I approach 30 to improve my skin, I have limited budget and can’t afford laser etc so I am choosing the at home route.

I’ve read that the healing process for that depth takes 4-5 weeks and doing it more often can damage the forming collagen, so please look at the scholarly literature on this.

Just a heads up, please look into getting medical grade needle roller. I did a bunch of research before buying myself a derma roller and a lot of Amazon or eBay rollers are knockoffs meaning they are made out of pinwheels. I got one from Gin Amber Beauty (she also has a YouTube channel where she buys a bunch of dermarollers off of Amazon and breaks them apart ) for $31 or from skinmedix for $28. I’m just looking out for the fellow beauty lover.

My dermatologist warned me that it’s super important to take roller off of your face before changing direction. In other words, roll in one direction at a time

Thand for this onfo!

2nd time dermarolling and derma stamp 1.5mm

This is my second time using the derma roller but really I’m classing it as my first proper use because first time I didn’t use much pressure as I didn’t have numbing cream. This time I washed my face exfoliated the put on numbing cream then after 20 min washes off numbing cream and applied the ordinary hyaluronic acid then used the 1mm dermaroller on my forehead chin and nose. I then used 1.5mm stamp on my cheeks which is where I have massive pores, ice pick and box car scars.
I have two very bad ones on my left cheek and they will be the easiest to say any improvement !
After rolling I applied more hyaluronic acid and then some the ordinary moisturiser
Will put pics up of my skin when I roll again in 5 weeks!
Meantime I am using glycolic cleanser salicylic acid and moisturiser also using the ordinary bha acid peel a couple of times a week

This is just my personal opinion, but thinking perhaps you are been slightly too harsh with your skin.
I clean my skin with rubbing alcohol. I roll it and then add my vitamins and hyaluronic acid. And already after a week see a big difference, plus my skin is not overly irritated. Youtube some examples how to do it.

Misadventures in Home Microneedling, Part 2: Lip Wrinkle
9 Dec 2015
1 month post
I had great results from the first lip-wrinkle microneedling session, as pictured. Four weeks passed and it was time for another one. Since it was so painful last time, I left the 5% lidocaine gel on my upper lip area for one hour. When I washed off the gel, the area felt very numb. "This'll be a piece of cake," I thought. HA! It was far worse than last time. The 1.5 mm roller was intolerable, so I switched to a 1.5 mm stamp. I managed a few half-hearted stamps along the length of the wrinkle and gave up, planning to find a better anesthetic. I tried again with a 1.0 mm roller but it wasn't any better.I have a chicken pock scar above my right eyebrow that I rarely notice, but since I had a dermastamp in my hand I decided to take a stab at it. I stamped it a dozen times, without the use of anesthetic and without pain. Amazing how different parts of our face have such different levels of sensitivity! I didn't take photos of the scar, but I'll let you know how it goes.My determination to eradicate that lip wrinkle led me to Amazon in search of a stronger topical anesthetic. 5% is the highest strength allowed for over-the-counter lidocaine... unless the product is made for prolonging an erection, so I snatched up a bottle of Apex Spray with 10% lidocaine. The things we do for beauty!Speaking of lidocaine, there is a reason for limits on the strength. Lidocaine isn't just a numbing agent; it's a potent cardiac drug used for slowing down the heart rate. When you put lidocaine on your skin it's absorbed into the bloodstream, and depending on the amount there could be some serious consequences (death is one). Since my upper lip area is very small I'm not worried about that, but if you're going to microneedle a large area or multiple areas, it could be a problem. It's probably best to do smaller areas, each one on a different day. Oh, and for goodness sake, after the area is numb, WASH OFF THE LIDOCAINE with soap and water before you begin microneedling! Anything on the surface of your skin will be driven INTO your skin by the needles. Not only does this increase the risk of it affecting your heart, but it can also cause granulomas to form under the skin (hard bumps that are not easy to treat). Granulomas can form after microneedling due to inflammation triggered by irritation or allergy to any substance (not just lidocaine gel) ON the skin or applied AFTERWARD before the microchannels (openings left by the needles) close, which can take up to 12 hours. I know there are all kinds of potions for sale claiming they're for use with microneedling. Don't do it! If you're using needles long enough to penetrate into your dermal layer, you need to use extreme caution with what you apply before, during or afterward. There are very few products actually formulated for (and safe to use with) microneedling!!

I see a big improvement. I purchased one and used it once the wrong way. Your pics and info are a big help. Maybe now I will do it right. Looks to me like you are doing a great job.

What peel did you use? Where did you get it?
May 13, 2018
Can you send a link?
August 18, 2018
What is tac 25? I just got an Rx for retention creme + I'm not sure if it's ok to use it right after dermarolling
September 12, 2018
Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA Peel 25%). If you use Tretinoin after rolling, you will peel like crazy (I did and people were asking what was wrong with my face).
