More About My Procedure And Medpor Implant
Hello RealSelf Users,
For those of you who are interested in the procedure that I received. And are interested in more information on what to expect. I have provided what I went through, here's what to expect. From my earlier posts I explained that I received Minor Rhinoplasty. I had Radix Augmentation with a Medpor Implant for my Horizontal Glabellar Crease.
I found an amazing surgeon, Dr. Manish shah, who's specialty was Rhinoplasty. He was very experienced, especially with Medpor Implants, a favorite of his. He explained everything thoroughly to me about Medpor Implants. The pros and the possible cons that can be associated with them.
He also told me about other options for implant materials, if I wasn't interested in a Medpor Implant. Such as patient’s own natural tissues, such as cartilage from the inside of the ear or bone from the ribs. A Medpor Implant, just made more sense to me. Its porous surface allows blood vessels and connective tissue to grow into the implant. And they can be easily trimmed to size for a perfect fit.
These are things that can't happen with your own natural tissues. I personally didn't want to use my own tissue for the implant. Why take from something that's perfect? I would rather add to myself then take away.
It was a very simple procedure that took place at his office under general anesthesia. I had the option for Dr. Manish Shah, to make the incision and go through the inside of my nose. Or to make an incision at the top of my hairline and go down my forhead. I choose my forehead (you can see the incision scar in my pictures).
Before the procedure, while I was sitting in the operating room. I was Given pain medication, and my forehead was numbed with numbing cream. I waited half an hour after this for the medications to take affect. I then had numbing medication injected in multiple areas of my forehead and then the procedure started.
I was awake the whole time, just my forehead was numb, I didn't feel a thing but heard everything. The sounds were unsettling though, a bunch of scrapping and tearing sounds. Dr. Manish Shah, made the incision above my forehead along the hairline.
He used his tools to create a tunnel to drop the Medpor Implant in place. It was placed In my Radix, above the bridge of my nose, between my eyes, where I had the Horizontal Glabellar Crease. He created the tunnel by separating the skin from bone.
After the Medpor Implant, was set into place all snug and fit, where it will sit til the day I die. The incision was sewed up with dissolvable stitches. A guaze pad and ice pack were placed on my forehead, wrapped and I was sent home.
I highly recommend Medpor Implants for those who are perfect canidates for it. Most plastic surgeons don't recommend Medpor implants due to frequency of infections and complications. I can assure you that I never had any infection or complication with my Medpor Implant. I strongly recommend you find a Surgeon who's very experienced with Medpor Implants. To lessen your chances of running into complications or infection.

I'm sorry would you mind explaining to me what did you exactly had it done to your nose because I can't tell the difference from the old picture..

Sita222,
I had nothing done to my actual nose. I had Radix Augmentation for my Horizontal Glabellar Crease. It's classified as minor Rhinoplasty because it deals with the radix (the space above the bridge of the nose, between the eyes). If you look at my before and after pictures. You'll see on the before's that I have a horizontal line above the bridge of my nose, between my eyes.
This is known as a horizontal Glabellar Crease. The Actor John C. Reilly, has a horizontal Glabellar Crease. Mine horizontal Glabellar Crease wasn't as serious as his is. I had a Medpor implant put in my Radix to get rid of my Horizontal Glabellar Crease. I no longer have that crease between my eyes, above the bridge of my nose.
Look above the bridge of my nose between my eyes. You'll notice the horizontal crease (line) with the before picture. And you'll notice it's gone with the after picture due to the Medpor Implant. It's a huge difference.

My New Look! Worth It!!!
Here's a recent picture of me (Taken Today) 26 days after my procedure. As you can see, the Horizontal Glabellar Crease, I had my whole life is gone. The swelling and bruising has been gone for awhile. The skin on my forehead is still tightening but not much longer before it's all back to normal.
I'm still very happy with the procedure I received from Dr. Manish Shah. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. It was worth every penny and my confidence with myself has increased.
Anyone with a Horizontal Glabellar Crease, should consider a Medpor Implant. Especially through Dr. MANISH SHAH, he's highly qualified in Rhinoplasty . It did wonders for me and it will do wonders for you. I highly recommend Dr. MANISH SHAH, if you undergo this procedure.

You look absolutely fantastic. Congratulations on such a great outcome. I never noticed until your post that my son has a very similar crease or that it even has a name. Of course, he's a teen and thinks he's absolutely gorgeous! I think he's perfect too so let's keep this info amongst ourselves ;-)

Thanks for the compliment. All credit is due to Dr. Manish Shah, he's amazing!. Do enough research and you'll find a name for just about everything, lol. I've always known and considered myself attractive, an 8/10. The Horizontal Glabellar Crease, really bothered me. Nobody has ever mentioned it to me but I noticed it all the time. Now after the procedure,I'm a 10/10, and now I have more confidence.
Don't worry, My lips are sealed!
