Day 10 Post Op

I ventured out this weekend and went furniture shopping and to the grocery store. I have been back at work since exactly one week post-op. It was only out of necessity since my husband had to go out of town on business and someone needed to be there to manage everything. I will say the differences are much more noticeable in person than in pictures. But I love it! It is what I wanted and I could care less who notices or not. Those who don't see me daily seemed to not really know what to think. I'm not sure if they were just being polite or thought I looked different but weren't sure what it was exactly. The bruising is looking better and better every day. Still doing the Arnica and massaging it in and working on it every day but I think time is really the only thing. I do believe diet affects the process and with swelling. I am eating more produce and have cut out dairy for awhile, especially since i believe it doesn't help with the stuffiness. I am eating fruit including pineapple every morning, and spinach and eggs at breakfast. Salad and protein for lunch and dinner. Not much change otherwise. I noticed that my discomfort increases when I'm in the car, maybe time to clean it? I have chicken tortilla soup and a salad for lunch today and got a nose bleed. Seems that spicy foods can and DO affect the blood vessels in the nose after all and I will be avoiding spicy for a little while longer I think.

One week post op

It has been 8 days since surgery. I'm wearing makeup to cover the bruising and my eyes are so tired looking, as sleep is still not great. I am trying to clear out my nose so that I can breath again, and it is much better during the day. It just stuffs up at night when I try to lay down, even still propped up on pillows. There is still so much swelling but even with the swelling I am ecstatic about the results! So far it looks amazing and so much better than before! I can't wait for the bruising to fully heal and more of the swelling goes down. And I am ready to venture out shopping etc without people wondering if I'm a battered woman! The bruising is getting a little better every day..... patience is a virtue they say, and very helpful when healing from nose surgery!

Post Op - Days 4, 5 and One Week After

Day 4 - Feeling about the same, still not sleeping well at all. Waking up several times throughout the night to clean my nose and use the saline spray. I bought that stuff by the 3 pack at Costco and SO glad I did! It has saved my life! The tip is swollen and I expected that but I can tell that it already looks better than it did before. The bleeding has slowed way down also. Just stuffed up a ton.

Day 5 - CAST OFF DAY!!! Woohoo!!! I could feel pressure from my nose wanting to expand on the cast and knew the swelling would go up once it came off. I think it may have but not considerably so. I am so ECSTATIC about the way it looks already. I couldn't take the bruising so I tried desparatly to cover it with makeup, taking about 3 applications! Didn't realize how caked on it looked until this photo where it shows where my sunglasses had rested. Those didn't bother me a bit but the sunlight did, probably from the lack of adequate sleep. The doctor gave me the go ahead to blow my nose, HALLELUJAH, and keep cleaning with the peroxide and q-tips. I could now take a proper shower and let all of the glorious steam get up in there. I hadn't really dug around too much with the cleaning, only around the inside of the nostrils. I used the saline spray to lubricate deeper inside. I began massaging the under eye circles that were still black, and switch off with heat and ice to help break up the blood pool in the bruise. The bridge was tender still so didn't touch it too much and the tip is almost numb of course. I used the bacitracin ointment multiple times a day as well, after cleaning with peroxide. I was given the go- ahead to be more physical after today as well. Good thing because I was already going stir crazy! But I'm SO SO happy already! My husband is acting kinda weird, nervous almost. I assured him it doesn't count as cheating. I give him permission to fall in love again. LOL!!!

Dr. Weber and his staff have been so wonderful and accommodating. My schedule has been hectic and they were able to squeeze my consultation in between other appointments. They gave me plenty of time and attention to make sure we were on the same page about my desires and expectations, and if that was feasible. Dr. Weber thoroughly explained what to expect but gave me plenty of opportunities to voice my concerns, questions and desires. He didn't dominate the conversation like some other doctors do. Dr. Weber and Camille answered all of my questions and made me feel confident about my decision to choose Dr. Weber after many consultations with other surgeons here in Denver. I am currently 12 days post op and am VERY happy! I am so glad I did this!
