BB stitch

I forgot to mention the my belly button is rejecting half of the stitches so one side looks great but the other is kind of weeping and gross. They took out as many stitches as they could because they were not dissolving and it seems to be getting better. It's not infected and I am still cleaning it with antibacterial soap so hopefully it starts to heal soon!

4 weeks and no regrets!!

It has been a while since I last posted but I have been BUSY!! I was really only able to just sit and heal for about 2 weeks and then I just had to get moving. With two small kids I just don't have the luxury of sitting for weeks. I had help until 3 weeks so I wasn't alone taking care of the kids until week 3. With this movement comes LOTS of swelling though. Nothing abnormal but after only a couple hours of doing the normal stuff I swell and stay swelled until bedtime. I am still wearing my compression garmet 24 hours a day and I try to put my feet up and rest when I can. My doc told me within the first 3 months my swelling will subside 75% so I am hopeful it will just get better over time.
My drains came out day 7 but nothing without a slight complication. My right boob drain was stuck in a stitch. OUCH! So after a few tries of tugging and pulling they called my doc, who was in surgery, and during her break she came over, numbed me up, took the stitch out and had to fix a couple sutures. It was uncomfortable for sure but I was not leaving with a drain still in. At my two week check up they told me I am a great healer and allowed me to start wearing a sports bra and lift, carefully and indecently, my 11 month old. It took me another week to actually find a sports bra though. I just couldn't find a supportive enough bra that didn't have an underwire and was easy enough to get on. I ended up with a reebok sports bra but it doesn't zip in the front. I'm still in a large and I think my bra size will be exactly what my surgeon promised, full c small d. This is amazing to me considering she took over a pound off each breast and I am still left with amazing boobs! They really are amazing too! So perfect that I really couldn't ask for better results.
My tummy tuck is obviously taking longer to see a finished result. When I wake up in the am my stomach looks amazing! I can almost see abs but as soon as the swelling sets in it just isn't as visible. That has been the toughest part of the recovery. I just don't get to see the tt results except for a few hours a day. It ok though. I know it will go down over time and my tummy tuck scar is so thin and so low I am really happy overall. I also started walking on the treadmill very slowly around 2.5 weeks post op, with my docs approval of course. It feels good but I would love to add some strength training in because I am getting a little flabby. I'm not allowed to yet but I have been able to keep my weight constant and not gain so I am good with that for now. I will post some pics and update sooner I promise! Thanks for all the support!

So tired today!!

The good news is that my pain is really almost nothing. I am down to half a Percocet every 6 hours and half a Valium every 8. I have one more day of antibiotics and then I may be off all prescribed meds for good except for my vitamins and the arnica and bromelein. It is getting easier to move but my abs are still very tight and it is hard to move certain directions. I am getting pretty sick of my drains though. They are just always in the way and I keep pulling on them. I think my swelling has gone down quite a bit. I will post some pics I took this evening and I can see quite a difference from yesterday.
On another positive note I finally had bowel movement. Well three actually. I have been religious about my probiotics, miralax and drinking plenty of protein shakes but after nothing I gave in and took some MOM. It took about an hour and that was it. It didn't hurt though but my stomach is still making noises after three BM's so no more laxatives until things solidify a bit. Although it felt good to get over that hurdle.
The only other thing bothering me today was nausea. I haven't had any since I got home but today was the last day for my ear patch so I don't know if the nausea was related to that or not. I gave in and took a phenegran and it knocked me out. I only took half but I slept for like 5 hours after. Hopefully my nausea subsides tomorrow. I'm getting tired, again, so I'm off for the nights but let me know if you guys think my swelling looks ok? I need some reassurance!!

Even though I am only 3 days post op I can honestly say Huang was amazing. All of her staff was so attentive and Lorraine, the scheduler, worked so hard to get my reduction covered. I am so excited to see how well I heal but I would highly recommend Dr. Huang! She is qualified, caring and you can tell she loves her work! I am so fresh out of surgery that it's hard to rank after care but I will once time goes on. Besides calling her a midnight before my surgery to let her know I was sick I haven't talked to her via phone or email but she promptly called me back which I greatly appreciated!!
