Microneedling AGED my Skin 10 Years!!

I had 1 session of microneedling 1 month and 3 weeks ago and it has devastated my face. I have lost all fat and elasticity and my face is literally sagging with loose skin. I am 28 years old. The girl that did it used 1.4mm needles on my skin and owns her own spa.
I have tried everything. Supplements, creams, red LED lights, yoga, steaming...nothing will touch it. I am engaged and this is affecting my whole life.
What's worse than anything is the texture..I am covered in thousands of little holes!!!
Has anyone else had this reaction and can you tell me what if anything helped???

I have had 4 treatments but not at the depth you had by your provider. I used .5 mm first two times then went to 1mm the 2 last treatment. I have noticed my skin looks dryer so I use Hydrolic Serum with vitamin C in it . I wash my face with warm water cleansing with baby shampoo and then rinse it with cool because it closes my pores. It usually takes a month after each treatment for the skin to repair itself, but it sounds like your provider tore the skin on your face.

Hyaluronic serum not Hydrolic

Thanks Pamela, be careful moving forward. I really would recommend you stop while you're ahead. I think you are right that she did tear my skin apart, but the odd thing is I didn't bleed.
April 23, 2018
You're supposed to bleed. Pin point bleeding is the end point of any microneedling session - that's when you reach the papillary dermis and induce collagen production. Anything superficial of that will just cause unneccessary epidermal trauma and do nothing in terms of collagen induction. If she went very aggressively and too superficially I can see how that would make a problem.

The epidermis has a turnover of 180-540 days and should reverse by that time.

You see, microneedling is not just about needle length - it's technique-dependant as well. You can needle with 2mm needles and do nothing as long as you don't stretch the skin taut and apply adequate pressure. The pressure and skin-skretching does much more for penetration than a 1mm increase in needle length.

The point in my opinion should be to achieve pin point bleeding with as short needles as possible, that way you have more control over the penetration, as the face has some areas that are more bony than others, which will be obliterated if you don't stretch and go over with too long needle lengths.

Urlm,
Are you in the medical field? Where are you getting this data from? Can you attach a link?
With respect, I have spoken to many women with the same fat loss and horrible outcome.

Look up pamps and damps. Doctors are now realizing that this can happen and volume loss could be a side effect.

It is hard to tell any difference from the photos.. only thing that looks different is your lips looking fuller

What she did is make your pores visable usually once pores show up you can’t fade them but there really small most people can’t see them well that’s what I like to believe:/
April 23, 2018
I can't really see it from the pictures. I don't think it's possible that microneedling can cause fat loss, as the fat lies much deeper beneath the skin than the needles penetrate. From the pictures it doesn't really look like your skin is sagging either, it actually looks tighter, which may be what gives the impression of the facial fat loss. Microneedling does stimulate collagen which will tighten the skin. The small puncture holes is something I've learned may be an inevitable side effect of microneedling - I have got them myself. But to me they're not a problem at all, I can only see them if I inspect my skin extremely closely, it's basically invisible, and a decent trade off for the overall tone improvements I've seen.

I've been through a lot with procedures before, and believe me, you're hyperaware right now and the changes you're seeing might not be a drastic as it's in your head, and they might not be at all. The problem with these procedures, if they don't give an obvious improvement, is that it'll drive you crazy looking for all types of imperfections, and you start attributing every skin problem to that procedure.

It looks like you've tried A LOT of things in just 1 month. I'd keep the skin moisturised and sun protected and give it least 6 months to bounce back. Yoga and steaming isn't really going to do anything - you could try some skin supplements but stay away from anything too harsh.

If you think of your skin as the largest organ in the body and that it is like a nylon stocking, then imagine getting damage to the skin, like a stocking, it runs and migrates. This type of inflammation is called Damps. The damage might be in one area but it can migrate. Just like when a patient get radiation therapy. The damage migrate through the skin from the original site to other sites. Once the integrity of the skin has been compromised it is no longer as elastic as it was. The skin can give the appearance of losing volume or fat loss. It takes on a sagging appearance. This can happen with any treatment that damages the skin or if an infection happens (Pamps). And the collagen that is stimulated is scar tissue. This may not happen with everyone with microneedling and it may not happen with every treatment. But this should be brought to the everyone's attention.

I had a horrible reaction to micro needling too (I was slathered in Aquaphor for over a week and so inflamed I couldn't see my normally prominent cheek bones) and felt that is increased my pore size, plus I have a few permanent tiny red marks I never had before and it didn't help with my dark spots at all. I haven't noticed fat loss, but there is another woman on here that had to have fat transfers after 2 procedures. I am telling everyone I know to stay as far away from this treatment, it can be horrific. I've been trying Nucelle and it seems to help with the sun spots and appearance of the larger pores (my skin is looking more refined-well like it used to). Have you tried Nuface? It might be worth talking to somebody about. I wish you luck.
April 25, 2018
Colecat,
Sorry to hear about your skin struggles. They certainly are real and upsetting. I have not heard of Nucelle. I looked it up and it looks like it is a light acid peel, am I right about that?
I think I will start using exactly products like that after 3 months. I'm at 2 now. How soon after you got the procedure did you start using it? :)
April 26, 2018
Hi, I started this at two months, but I think waiting three is a good idea. I've never been able to do any other acid treatment, but this is really gentle. Nuface is a machine that is supposed to stimulate the collagen, etc. Frankly, I always think it makes my dark spots darker, but I've been told that is not possible. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi lovelies,
I appreciate all of your comments. I would say I have made a breakthrough in terms of healing and it comes in the form of MSM. I am 11 months post 1 microneedling disaster with too long needles.
My breakthrough? I started taking a distilled, high quality MSM powder every morning in lemon water 3 weeks ago and using an Msm cream on my face. What it has done is SHOOT THE INFLAMMATION IN THE FOOT.
I highly highly recommend you RESEARCH MSM for yourself if you are suffering from microneedling inflammation. My only regret in this front, is that I hadn't known about it and started sooner. Not to mention all the skin on my body is butter soft and my hair is growing like a weed. PM me for brands I use. I am convinced this is the way to heal my skin.
It is tightening, brightening and helping that god awful texture. It is the first thing I have done since microneedling, and ladies, I have done it all in terms of pricey lotion/serums for my skin, that is truly improving my skin. Gotta run for now but PM me if you have questions.
Keep healing and find a better, stronger self on the way. Much love and remember to love the F out of yourself, because no one else will and probably no one cares about your skin anyway.

Thank you for this post. It's been over one year after a Fractora disaster. Pitting, vertical scars, orange peel texture and hyper-pigmentation. e-matrix has helped with the volume loss and IPL has helped with the pigmentation. But I am left with the rest. I have used MSM and DMSO before. Even DMSO on the face, but never MSM on the face. What cream do you use? I have pure MSM so I guess I could use it with an essential oil. You are right about us loving ourselves but sometimes it's hard to feel that I am more than my reflection. Best wishes,

I used aloe Vera from the plant and mixed it with my powder before I got the cream and had great results! Keep up the good fight!

I would love to know what cream you’re using - I sent you a DM. I take it orally but not topically!
February 10, 2019
It is optimsm. Around $25 On Amazon. I think it helps because I am not using much else. I made the mistake of trying alpha lipid acid 3 days ago and WOW big mistake. My skin is back to looking terrible. It's such a roller coaster ride...

I also found MSM to be beneficial to my face. Still have the pitting and scars but the skin looks better over all. Thank you so much for your post.

So very pleased for you :o)

The pictures of now after msm. Trust me the texture is still there but I feel like it is tightening some and maaaybe pumping a little. Still would give it a shot! MSM cream and orally are helping. But again make sure it is distilled and of high quality. I like kala health MSM powder and the optimsm cream:)

I just ran out and pick up a leaf off my aloe vera plant. I grow organic aloe vera on my ranch in Agoura HIlls. You would like should have thought of it by myself. Thanks again for sharing and your encouragement.

Hi, did you ever do those green peels? How's your skin doing now after all this time?
