I contemplated lipo for a long time. I was scared of the procedure and the recovery. I considered many doctors and was planning on having it done in Miami because I thought that doctors there were creating the shape I was looking for. I live in Denver and met with doctors here and ended up moving forward with Dr Campanile. The team is super professional and treated me with care. I’m happy with my belly and my flanks (no more muffin-top) but the thighs…I want a revision.
Thighs are tricky and a good doctor will warn you about this. Dr. C did warn me that there’s always a chance that they will come out disproportionate. This is not why I’m unhappy with my thighs. The inner thigh starts at the front of the body and goes to the back (I'm not referring to the back of the thigh, i.e. banana roll). They wanted to do the full procedure while I’m lying face up which is understandable since flipping the person over is a hassle but when I asked how they can do the whole inner thigh, I was told they can access the back of the thigh by lifting my leg a certain way. This is not the case. In order to do this correctly, I urge women to request to be turned over. I have seen other reviews where women mention this. My thighs look the same. He did take some fat out but the results are not what it could have been. I can grab a large pinch of fat in the inner thigh towards the back and I basically didn’t get the silhouette I could have. I hope they will revise this. If not, I will find someone who will. It took me five years to take this step so I want to see it through.
He did a fantastic job on my belly so I highly recommend him for this. Recovery is tough but ultimately it was worth it. It’s been six months and everything has evened out for the most part. I can’t stress this enough…massages are necessary. Once the incision-points healed, I took a lot of hot baths and massaged my belly afterwards. You will be lumpy for sure and massaging helps a great deal with that. I also did lymphatic drainage massage (4 visits) which isn’t comfortable but definitely worth it. You will be numb for a couple months. I also recommend foam rollers. The sides of my belly were really hard to the touch and the most painful during recovery but laying down on a foam roller elevated a lot of pressure and tension that builds up with scar tissue. Wearing the garment is so unpleasant. I just wanted to burn it when I was done. If you can find a pull up garment without zippers, get one. After the first week of wearing the zipper garment, I moved to a super tight and high pair of spanks. It was painful but better than the zippers digging into the tender areas.
Ultimately, I am so much happier with my body. Things I have felt insecure about for years about my belly are finally not on my mind anymore. I still go to the gym but if I stopped altogether, I feel like my new belly will stay proportionate with the rest of my super petite frame.
