I decided to get lip implants because my psychiatrist prescribed me ambien and I made some pretty crazy descions (I stopped taking it after that). However, I was excited because I was planning on quitting smoking and this was going to be my reward. The first cons were: after the procedure was very painful. My lips also swelled up like daffy ducks and I had to spend quite a bit of time out of public view. I expected these things. Now my lips have settled. The first problem is they were supposed to be soft and sort of unnoticeable, that is not the case. They feel like to rolls of hard plastic embeded under my skin. I haven't kissed anyone yet because it is so embarrassing.  The next thing...my smile is gone. Now I look like a creature baring my teeth when I attempt a smile. There is nothing natural about my smile, it looks terrible. I do a lot of holding my mouth in a neutral expression, and "smile with my eyes" so people know I am still friendly and approachable with out scaring them off with my "smile". Next, the implants have migrated. They have migrated in opposite directions. The bottom ones end or tail is 3/4 inch away from the left side corner of my mouth edging its way to the middle, while the other side is very full where the lip tapers off to meet the fold. It looks like I have had a sort of allergic reaction or have some damage to one side of my mouth. The top is the same except for its on the other side. It looks terrible. I have talked to the dr very breifly who has wanted to wait and see...he waits and everyone gets to see me look like something is wrong with my face. I am going to talk to him tomorrow and see what the solution is. The plus side to all of this, I very breifly had amazing lips and I stopped smoking before the procedure and haven't gone back. Maybe that made it worth it. However, the dr messed up my face but the procedure helped my lungs. In conjunction with the implants, I also got a fat transfer to the cheeks and I am also dissapointed. There is a noticeable impression that looks like a scar on my cheek now and most of the fat and volume is gone. The dr that did this was supposed to be one of the top surgeons in Colorado. I am very dissapointed. If I could have this redone, I would have stuck to fillers, from my knowledge they are not as permanente, if something is bad than it goes away, not as expensive and I think they have much less down time. Or I would have gotton breast implants, I hear those are awesome. I will try to keep this updated as to the solution my dr has. If he fixes this or removes the implants and completely reimburse s me than I would be happy and I would use fillers.
