For nearly 3 years I have wished I had NOT trusted the skin on my face to Dr. Manish Shah. EVERY day, ALL day. Dr. Shah offered me a complementary fat grafting procedure in an attempt to resolve the issue, but I would never trust him to touch my face again. Absolute nightmare experience. This would be a zero star rating if the option was available.

I've removed a few comments from this review. Please keep in mind when posting comments that RealSelf is a supportive place where people can openly share individual experiences and whether they think the treatment was worth it or not. Before posting any further, please take a moment to review RealSelf's Guidelines & Policies and feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have questions.

Thank you,

Eva

Thank you for your response, Eva. Does RealSelf only accept positive reviews? That would make RealSelf biased and untrustworthy. RealSelf is worthless as a patient resource for physician/medical reviews if only positive reviews are allowed.

Hello tswarbrick, as I mentioned above — people can openly share individual experiences and whether they think the treatment was worth it or not; providing that reviews comply with RealSelf's guidelines, both negative and positive are posted.

Please show me an example of an acceptable negative review as I'm not finding negative reviews on this site. Thank you.

Hi tswarbrick, you can go to any review page (e.g. Laser Resurfacing) and filter by Not Worth It reviews.

Beyond Despondent

tswarbrick
I recommend against any type of laser resurfacing for the skin. This physician was extremely aggressive with the CO2 laser he applied to my face and layers of skin were permanently burned out of my face.. CO2 laser peel burn injury. There was zero pre-procedure medical care despite the fact there was a skin care/medical care regimen including prescriptions that was supposed to have been implemented two weeks prior to the procedure. Pre-procedure medical care was non-existent. Following the procedure, when I had expressed my extreme dissatisfaction, this physician cancelled the remaining appointments in writing and denied me the medical treatment that was meant to follow-up the procedure. He also wrote an entry into my medical record looking for any way possible to blame me for the poor outcome and for the substandard or non-existent medical care. My overall impression was that of an assembly line of slap dash medical procedures with little concern for patient well-being. Now this physician is trying to silence me from speaking out about this nightmare experience, but I refuse to be silenced. This is layers of skin permanently burned out of my face. I am beyond despondent. He has offered me a complementary fat grafting procedure in writing in an attempt to resolve this issue, but I no longer trust him to 'treat' my skin. I am frustrated attempting to write a review on this site as the site rules do not allow one to be as forthright as one wishes to be. I'm sure there will be comments about this review, but this is my experience with this procedure and this physician. Every word is true and should remain as a warning to others.

Considering that you've been attempting to damage my hard earned reputation for the last 3 years all over the internet, why don't you ever post any pictures? Perhaps you should. (Keeping in mind that posting any pictures that were taken before I saw you as a patient would be fraud.)

Photographs are not reliable as they can be digitally altered and time stamps can be manipulated. I refuse to rely on photographs. That’s why I requested in writing that the damage be viewed first-hand by The Doctors Company in the claim I filed against you. TDC did not conduct a thorough investigation given the fact its expert did not view the damage you burned into my face. Also ignored, you did not provide the prescribed pre-/post-procedure medical care. It’s documented in my medical record and you cancelled the remaining appointments in writing on June 11, 2013 when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the damage to my skin/face. The follow-up treatment for this procedure was not completed.

CO DORA also did not conduct a thorough investigation into the formal complaint I filed against you as the damage was not viewed first-hand. CO DORA Program Director Karen McGovern viewed the damage at my express request and she acknowledged that it is CO2 laser peel burn injury to my face. She stated that CO DORA reviews many cases involving laser burn injuries. Ms. McGovern also stated that intent must be proved, which gives physicians license to practice substandard medicine. A formal complaint and request for investigation into this matter by CO governor John Hickenlooper is being prepared.

You damaged your own reputation when you did not provide the pre-/post-procedure medical care meant to accompany this procedure and then permanently burned CO2 laser peel burn injury into my skin/face. I’m speaking out against this damage you permanently burned into my skin/face. You know you burned damage into my skin/face which is why you offered me a complementary $3,000-$5,000 fat grafting procedure in person on June 6, 2013 and in writing on June 11, 2013 (I have the email from you). I gave you the chance to make this right before I began to write reviews one year ago (not three years as you erroneously claim), the first being on your Shah Aesthetic Surgery Facebook timeline June 17, 2015. There wouldn’t be negative reviews if you had made this right as you said you would.

I see and live with this CO2 laser peel burn injury you burned into my face every day. This damage to my face is in every face-to-face conversation I have on a daily basis. In addition, the integrity of the CO2 laser damaged skin has been greatly compromised. I would give anything to have my skin as it was before your CO2 laser procedure.

Permanent CO2 Laser Damage

tswarbrick
Manish Shah of Shah Aesthetic Surgery in Denver, CO permanently burned layers of skin from my face with CO2 laser. He’s attempted to blame me and a previous physician, but this damage to my face did not exist pre-procedure and was immediately visible following his procedure.

Dr. Shah offered a fat grafting treatment gratis (approx $3,000-5,000) when I presented in-office the damage following the CO2 laser procedure. I refused further treatment from Dr. Manish Shah.

This permanent injury to my face has caused mental anguish and has lessened my confidence and quality of life.
