The decision to have reconstruction after breast...

The decision to have reconstruction after breast cancer treatment is both personal and emotional. I found Dr. Christine Rodgers through an aesthetician who has worked with the staff in Dr. Rodgers'offices to provide skin care products. I waited 4 months for my consult---it was worth it! The staff, from Julie at the front desk to Nancy the nurse to Katie and Brooke the PAs to the anesthesiologist (rock star) and of course Dr. Rodgers herself ( #1 rock star), all made a difficult decision an easier and more pleasant one. Any problem I had, they were available, even on weekends, to guide me through post operative challenges. My emotional hesitancy to undergo another procedure following breast cancer treatment was treated with respect to my needs and my endless questions were answered with patience. Dr. Rodgers "gets it"; she too is a survivor and it shows, not only in her but in her staff.
My cosmetic results are superb. Radiated breasts do not heal as quickly but Brooke and Katie have ushered me through the post operative healing period with grace, kindness, genuine concern and a good measure of humor. I am glad to have this procedure behind me but I am glad that I waited the 4 months to see Dr. Rodgers for my first consult. If you are a breast cancer survivor and you find your way to Dr. Rodgers' office door, you can rest assured that your journey to get back to you after breast cancer is nearly complete.

Thank you for sharing your experience here. If you're comfortable, would you share some of your photos too? It's helpful to others suffering with breast cancer to see real results from real people like yourself.

What did your reconstruction entail? Did you get implants or a flap procedure?
