@ 6 months postop!

Doing well! I think the pictures say it all! I will admit at six months I’m no longer applying the Biocorneum on a daily basis. I think the most important thing was that I applied it pretty consistently for my first few months postop. My scars are not really visible unless looking at them from very close up.
I think my Biocorneum scar therapy has been helpful; however I do believe my plastic surgeon gets much of credit here for his great incision work! I’m only mentioning this because I don’t believe that Biocorneum (or any scar therapy) can give you as good of results if the incision work was not great to begin with. That’s all for now. :-)

Progress pics after 10 days of Biocorneum

I’m about 33 days postop right now of my lower facelift. As mentioned in my prior update I had quite a bit of swelling behind my ears and my PS wanted me to hold off for a few days on the Biocorneum. What I didn’t mention was I also had swelling in my chin and neck areas as well. In efforts to quicken my healing I had two treatments of lymphatic massage at a local med spa.
Although my own PS is not convinced that lymphatic massage really makes a difference he did give me clearance to go ahead and try. To make a long story short the swelling went gone down and I’ve been using the Biocorneum for a little over 10 days now. Prior to the Biocorneum I kept my incisions moist with Aquaphor. Pics posted are at various stages of my scar healing.
I’m pleased with the way things are starting to look. Especially the front of my ears which looked pretty good to begin with; I have to give credit there to my surgeon’s incredible incision work. He also did a great job behind the ears. I think the reason they swelled up so much (especially the right side) is because of my tendency to turn on my side while sleeping. It’s very difficult to sleep on my back facing up. And yes I’ve tried all those tricks such as pillows under the arms etc. etc. Inevitably at some point in the evening I would roll onto one side or the other putting pressure on the back of my ears.
So that’s all for now. I hope everyone else is doing well with their scar therapy. For those that missed in my first update I’m re-posting a link to an instructional video here at RealSelf on How to Apply Biocorneum:
https://www.realself.com/video/25415#.WeN4s7opChB
When I first started using Biocorneum (prior surgeries) I was applying way too much; and I was very surprised to find out how little is very needed. For those that haven’t seen this video... I hope this is helpful.

Stitches finally removed! Pre-Biocorneum update at @ 12 days PO

The photos collage demonstrates how my facial scars look (with stitches removed) prior to the start of my biocorneum scar therapy. My stitches were removed at 7 days postop. Photos were taken today at 12 days postop. Because of additional swelling behind my ears my PO wants me to wait a few more days before applying the Biocorneum. I hope to be starting the Biocorneum within the next few days.
