How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

7 Days Post-Op Deep Plane Facelift - my Daily/weekly Recovery and Struggles

Hi All, I've used this forum to research for many years - reading success stories - reading the horror stories and now I'm finally posting my own RealSelf narrative here in hopes that it will help others. I also wanted to share an injury that occured from my prolonged surgery that everyone should be aware of - I hope it never happens to anyone.

First off, I'm a surgery nurse. I work primarily in orthopedics, trauma, general surgeries....no experience in plastics. My greatest responsibility at work is ensuring that patients are safe and feel comfortable to trust that my team and I will take phenomenal care of them. Those of us who've had surgery know how vulnerable we are, on the cusp between life and death under anesthesia and dependent of those around us. I love my job and take pride in that I'm the protector of the patient - I'm constantly watching and checking in on someone's positioning, any fluids coming out of the patient, who touched what for sterility safety, etc. It's unfortunate that I was badly injured in the process of my own procedure due to someone not taking those checks seriously.

I am 48 years old. I don't "hate" the way that I look and I'm grateful for some physical traits but I just wanted to maintain some youth, so I went in for an upper bleph, deep plane facelift and a TCA peel under my eyes. I chose a surgeon from Beverly Hills with 10 years of experience. I found her through RealSelf and was impressed by her artistry and what I deemed, very meticulous work. I combed through all her reviews; there were a couple complaints, however, I know everyone is human and makes mistakes and 98% of the reviews I was reading were all praise and great outcomes. Upon meeting her, she was warm, professional and I trusted her. It all made me feel less nervous the day of surgery.

I traveled from out of state for the procedures in Beverly Hills. I had a family member with me and we rented Airbnb's for multiple visits. There was a required stay at a "retreat" post-op, where they have on-staff nurses. At first, I thought this would be overkill, but in hindsight, I'm so happy that I had access to it.

To be continued....
