WORTH IT
I found Dr. Berke around a year ago on realself. I have spent time doing my research about him until I finally decided to contact him. What I feared the most about a facelift was the unnatural look and nerve affectation. So seeing the cases that Dr. Berke had operated, made me think that he was the right surgeon. The online consultation was set up on the same day I asked for information.
I finally made the decision to go ahead and travel to Istanbul.
Dr. BERKE:
His English is remarkable. My first impression of him couldn't be better: professional and kind. He made me feel safe and in good hands from the first moment.
SURGERY
I had a deep plane facelift and upper blepharoplasty on Dec 24th. The surgery took a few hours
At my worst moment, I can rate my pain 3 out of 10. I could move my face muscles after surgery normally.
HOSPITAL: Liv Vadistanbul
I could choose between two hospitals and although more expensive, I chose this one. I have never seen a hospital like this, it looked like a 5* hotel. I was checked by nurses every now and then. It offers à la carte menu for companions and hairdresser services. I arrived 4 hours before surgery for the preoperative study (blood sample, EKG, and interview with anesthesiologist). From my arrival, until I was assigned my room, a translator was with me. I spent one night at the hospital.
POST OP
From day 2 after surgery I covered my head with a scarf and with the use of a face mask, I walked around Istanbul as any other tourist. I went back to Spain on day 7 after surgery. Dr. Berke checked me twice after he discharged me from the hospital. . Some parts of my face (on the sides) are a bit swollen and tender. The before / after difference is noticeable but natural. The scars seem to be healing fine.
I had never undergone any kind of surgery and doing it abroad was a bit scary, so choosing a great doctor you can trust is the most important thing.
