I am now 4 months out from a deep plane facelift, neck lift with submandibular gland shaving, temporal lift, cheek implants, and fat transfer, and I couldn’t be happier with my results.
From the very beginning, I had a strong feeling that Dr. Luis Macias was the surgeon I was looking for. He has years of experience and, more importantly to me, the technical skill required to achieve a natural, restored appearance.
I have been in healthcare for 30 years, so I have for sure seen things go wrong. Because of that, choosing the right surgeon was extremely important to me. I wanted someone with exceptional technical expertise, and protection of the facial nerves was one of my biggest priorities. As I researched Dr. Macias, I quickly realized that he is what I jokingly call a “nerve nerd,” and I mean that as the highest compliment! His knowledge of facial anatomy and his focus on protecting the facial nerves gave me tremendous confidence going into surgery. And thankfully, I had absolutely zero issues with my facial nerves. Other than my smile taking a week or two to fully come back after surgery, I had no nerve-related issues whatsoever. I also appreciate Dr. Macias’s involvement in training the next generation of plastic surgeons and his connection with a leading plastic surgery fellowship. In my opinion, being involved in teaching and staying current with evolving techniques only enhances the skillset and expertise he brings to his patients.
For me personally, my neck was the biggest source of insecurity. I felt almost deformed by it. I honestly don’t think of this as simply having “plastic surgery.” For me, it felt much more like corrective surgery—restoring something that had bothered me for a very long time.
One of the things that impressed me most was the level of follow-up and support. I am someone who swells significantly, and I had a period where my swelling became pretty substantial. At my routine day-7 visit, they performed a Halo laser treatment, which actually caused my face to swell more initially. But Bessy, PA Brenda, and the rest of the team had prepared me for this and told me exactly what to expect, so I wasn’t caught off guard. That kind of communication and support made a huge difference during the healing process. I always felt like I knew what was normal and that I had a team there to support me.
Bessy and PA Brenda were both incredibly supportive. They helped me understand what to expect throughout the healing process and were reassuring when I needed it. Their communication and willingness to answer questions made me feel very well cared for.
At four months, I am thrilled with how natural my results look. I feel like my face and neck have been restored rather than altered, which is exactly what I hoped for.
If you are looking for a surgeon with the technical skill, experience, attention to detail, and genuine understanding of facial anatomy necessary to achieve a natural-looking result, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Macias and his entire staff.
