Just a quick update: lots of swelling has gone down recently, and the nose looks great. As the swelling decreased, a tiny bump on the upper bridge became apparent, but other than that I’m very satisfied. Good luck everyone with your revisions!

Happy!

Nose is healing well, swelling is decreasing every day and more definition is showing up. Breathing is much better. Overall I’m very satisfied!

Cast off!!!

So last Friday I had my cast off. It was becoming so itchy that I could not sleep at night so I could not wait to take it off! The cast removal itself wasn’t the most pleasant experience, but it lasted just a couple of mins, so no big deal. When the cast was removed, Rosie noted immediately that I’m very swollen in my upper bridge area and told me to put cold compresses daily and to use light pressure on sides from time to time. She took my pics and then I was given a minute to take a look at my nose. I looked weird (to say nothing), but I could see immediately that the projection is exactly what I wanted, the nose looked quite straight, not too upturned, I really could not ask for more-so I was happy. Then the other nurse made me lymphatic massage and taught me some exercises, they gave me some tape for taping my nose at night, another round of antibiotics and some sterile gauzes for cleaning my nose if it drips. As soon as I left, the nose start dripping of course, so I finished my gauzes in 2 hours and been using regular napkins since... I was not feeling the best being outside since in the cold weather the nose feels very weird, painful and like a foreign body attached to your face, so I preferred staying indoors and spent few hours in Harrods before my flight later that night. People were somewhat staring at me, because I had shiny face from baby oil (it was used to soften the tape for cast removal), and looked like a love child of Shrek and Neytiri from Avatar, but I felt so relieved being able to breathe etc that I enjoyed my shopping anyway:) then I flew home to Italy and felt no discomfort during the flight or landing. Now I’m almost completely back to my regular life except for some nose cleaning routine, being super careful around my two toddlers (and my 2 meters tall 110 kg husband haha) and also I feel very uncomfortable outside, since the cold weather arrived to Italy and the nose is dripping all the time when I’m out (it used to do so also before) and I cannot simply blow it, the nose is also very hard to the touch and becomes strangely painful in the wind, so I don’t know how will I proceed this winter, maybe I will start wrapping a scarf around it (if it stops dripping of course), or it will feel better with time, or I will try to stay indoors more...
Oh, and the rib graft site is healing nicely, the scar is ok, I could never tell I had a rib graft, since I feel nothing there, except for slight tension.
About the result-I’m being super patient, I do not spend time staring at me in the mirror, only while cleaning it and being in the bathroom in general. I can see some weird shadows and some dents and some strange lines on my nose, but I realise he has put at least 3 various grafts into it and it is still very early, so I’m simply enjoying the feeling that it is all over now, it is done, and my nose is already very much of what I wanted so it can go only better from here.
Of course, when I woke up on my tummy this morning ( even if I slept with neck pillow and two pillows piled, but I guess I simply turned at some point since the nose is not painful at all, the body is not protecting it any more) I was not happy, as it seemed inmediately, that I damaged sth and the nose is not straight any more etc. But I will try to be more careful and hope to heal well.
Will be seing dr Ion in January for my 6 weeks check up, will see what he says on my result.
Thank you for reading and feel free to ask any questions!
