Surgery Was Needed Due to Health Problems - Decatur, GA

ORIGINAL POST

I have always had stretch marks on my breast since...

Dena33
$4,500

I have always had stretch marks on my breast since the age of 14, they grow so big and always hurt. So after two children and being a single parent who could not sleep on my breast due to very intense pain, not including the constant back pain. I went to Dr.Woods, and this is what I got left with below. When I came in to show him the results of his surgery and expressed I was embarrassed and displeased with how my breast looked after the surgery; he got upset with me, I asked him to correct the damage he had done to my body and he refused to pay for the hospital stay. I did not have 4,500 dollars to pay for correcting the damage he had done to my body. The insurance that I had used said that the hospital stay was included in the cost of surgery and Dr. Woods had a moral and legal obligation to fix the damage he had done in the surgery to my breast. When I told him what the insurance had said he I am not fixing your breast and hung up the phone in my face.

I don't know what your before breasts looked like but I would go to another surgeon for a free consultation and see what they say. Your surgeon should be obligated to fix any mistakes that he made.

My breast before were beautiful. They were large and had stretch marks, but I was never embarrassed to let a man see my breast like I am now; the looks I get now and the questions are painful I did have free consultation but the insurance said Dr. Woods was responsible morally and legally to repair my breast. Yes you are right Dr. Woods should fix the mistakes he made. I feel the same way; just look at them they look horrible.

oh, my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry that your doctor was so uncaring. Is there any way to report him? You would think that he would want to help you, if not out of compassion and genuine care, at least to save his reputation. I am not sure that I would even trust him under the circumstances. Would your insurance pay for another surgeon to correct??

Thank you so much. It's so sad that I just cry. I wish the insurance company would pay for another surgeon to correct my misshapen breast. It was a miracle they paid for the one Dr. Woods did. Being a single mother of two trying to get my two children through school, I didn't extra money to pay the 4,500 dollars he wanted to fix the misshapen scared breast he created on my body you see above. I am upset and embarrassed, I just want him to make my breast look beautiful and normal again. They were beautiful before, just large with stretch marks, Now I have a disaster.

He did my first breast reduction and he did an excellent job...my breast grew back.. I'm so sorry you had a horrible experience...that should have been repaired without hesitation...a surgeon should be proud of his work and make sure his patient is happy....

I am sorry that you had this experience. I would try to talk more to the insurance company. If the doctor is a contracted provider with the insurance company they may have some pull.

Thank you very much. I will check into that.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this - my heart truly goes out to you - you might have to consult an attorney because you shouldn't have to deal with this

Thank you very much. I am consulting everyone I can, in hopes that this doctor has some morals and fixes his damaging work.

Definitely send the doctor a certified letter as a complaint stating your dissatisfaction. Send a letter to the AMA and request an investigation. The Patient Care Act may offer some support as well. Give him another opportunity to contact you and offer a remedy... put a time on it "14 day" written response demanded. If he doesn't respond then consult a medical malpractice attorney. It is not acceptable if you are not pleased with the service. God Bless.

I'm sorry I did not realize that it was so many years ago. Your remedies are few. I pray that you find the money to repair the damage so that you don't have to live with the humiliation of this procedure.
