Hello! These boards have been so helpful that I...

Hello! These boards have been so helpful that I want to return the favor. I am 12 days post surgery. I am 5'2, 135lbs and have been wanting to do something like this for a very long time! I live in the DC area and consulted with Dr. Ruff the surgeon. Very nice, answered all my questions. By the end of the consultation we decided to have my flanks and abdominals done. A few weeks later I called in and asked to have my arms done too. I figured might as well tackle everything flabby on my body. It was $1K extra. Why not.

I came in two weeks before procedure and was helped by staff. They did blood work and check ups. I was happy I didn't have to go to my primary doctor and tell him I was having lipo done.Afterwards, She prepared me with a list of things to get including prescriptions and how to prepare for after the surgery. Everyone was so helpful.

On the day of the surgery I was supposed to get there and hour before surgery which was at 10:30am. Due to dumb DC traffic I got there at 9:40. I was sure they were going to have me reschedule. They didn't! Everyone was so nice and accommodating! They really helped me ease my nerves. They were so funny! I did not do local anesthesia, it almost seem as that wasn't even an option with my doctor. He said local anesthesia would be "too messy". I didn't care either way. I met the anesthesiologist who sat with me for a few minutes and asked me all the necessary questions and he just kept me company while everyone prepared which was nice. I got taken into the Surgery room and was given anesthesia. I still laugh now thinking about some of the stuff I was saying as I was going under.

After what felt like 3 secs but was really 3 hours. I was awake! My husband was there and I was still pretty zombie. No pain really but pretty zoned out. Apparently the doc said the fat came out like butter and I had said " it's because it's all butter!" Haha. Doc said that it was all a success and I am not left with a beautiful body! They were able to take out the equivalent of what would be 12-15lbs.

I was wheeled to the car after and was given a little car package for the ride home. It had crackers, Tylenol, Apple juice, and, and an extr garment. I fell asleep in the car ride home. When I was home I felt great! Just felt like I did an intense abs and arm workout! I was on my feet a lot as it was difficult to sit or lay. I stuck to just Tylenol that night as I didn't think I needed anything stronger. The garment was awful! It was so tight and I had foam in between as well. Sleeping was awful. Also the doc and the Anesthesiologist called to check in on me that night.

Day 2:
Had appt with doc the next day. I was in SO much pain! Obviously the anesthesia wore off because I was feeling it all. When I got to the doc he took off my garment very slowly and it was awful. I was getting light headed. Once off he left me looked on the mirror and it was amazing! I had a waistline! I was pretty swollen and bruised up still but I could see the job was amazing! I have alway been bigger on top and had slimmer hips but the doc found a way to even/balance it out! He narrowed my waistline which highlighted my hips and butt! He put the garment back on and told me to keep it on for 4 weeks. He said I could shower on the 4th day and could remove all the foam too.

Day 3:
Had a nervous breakdown and few the following days. The pain was at times so unbearable that I regretted the whole operation. Luckily I have a great husband who talked me down. My problem was waiting until the pain got intense before taking anything. Doc said I should try to be ahead of the pain with the medications so it did not feel as severe. Meanwhile my entire torso down to my vagina was so swollen! The garment did not make things better as it was super tight. It was hard to sit and lay. Getting up was hard too but once up everything was fine.

My surgery was Thursday and I stayed in until Monday. Yes I went in to work on Monday. At first it I was going to call in sick but I sucked it up. It wasn't too bad. I converted my desk to a standing desk and never sat down. I didn't one anyone to question me as to why it was hard to sit and get up...so I just didn't deal with it at all.

Hiding the garment was bad as it had been in the 80s since the surgery. Lots of long sleep button downs over leggings!

The arm part of arm part of the garment was too tight and uncomfortable. Doc was ok with me cutting the sleeves off! That made picking clothes a lot easier and even just moving normally.

Day 12: it hasn't been easy. I am still super swollen but can feel and see it going down. I felt like I was a kangaroo hold her babies in her front sack! I don't feel that now. Everything is healing nicely. I had 5 total incisions one inside my belly button, two on lower pelvis, and one on each arm. All very well hidden! The ones on pelvis are already non existent!

Still have a long way to go but I don't regret a thing! Please let me know if you have any questions.
