I started researching labiapastys when I was about 18. I always had larger labia which were not only unsightly, but uncomfortable as well. Having a child exacerbated the situation and I as soon as I was cleared for the procedure post baby I went for it. Since the age of 18 I would research doctors, reviews, before and afters, techniques, practitioners close to me and my finding always led me back to Dr Goodman. Granted he was a couple hour drive from my home, I knew he was the right man for the job. I started contacting his office even before I got pregnant and spoke with a very informative staff member who had also had the procedure done that I was interested in. Her wealth of knowledge and customer service made me feel confident and comfortable. I had a phone consultation with Dr Goodman and he took ample time to explain the different techniques and options for me. Dr Goodman was never once pushy or eager to book immediately as other offices were. Pricing was fair and I set my procedure date. The procedure was done in the office with local anesthesia. They offer Ativan and pain killers should you be nervous. I am the type of person who is more nervous about taking pills then going under the knife so I opted to take a half of Ativan and some Tylenol and then it began. The office staff and Doctor made everything seem so calm so I definitely could have gone without both. The insertion of the local anesthetic hurts like a mother but is numb within seconds and the rest of the procedure is painless. The anesthetic last for a couple hours and I made a 2 hour car ride home pain free. The recovery is best described for me like a annoying paper cut. It did not really hurt much but it was annoying and I had to be careful not to do anything to aggravate it for a week or so……you know like a paper cut. The first couple days things are looking so swollen and awful that you just want to cry. You are doing nothing but resting so you cant help but worry if it will stay like that forever and then a week later poof it looks mostly normal and you forgot about your Frankenstein vagina from the week before. Now, I am 3 months post of and could not be happier. I could think of many words to describe Dr Goodman and my experience but I think the most important factor is his attention to detail and expertise. There are 10,000 Drs in my area who perform this procedure as well as 10,000 other procedures. Dr Goodman specializes in gynecological procedures and has mastered them. He does not offer a labiaplasty with a nose job and a tummy tuck as a special on Fridays. Dr Goodman took as much time to explain the procedure as he did doing the procedure. There was no sense of urgency or rush throughout the whole process and that put me at ease. I feel like I could write for days about how please I was with the whole experience but the bottom line is that I am more than happy with me decision and I recommend Dr Goodman to anyone who is interested in any gyn procedure.
