I cannot recommend Dr. Goodman & his staff, Nicole and Rachel, enough. I had come to Dr. Goodman highly dissatisfied with a labiaplasty my gynecologist did for me ~2012. Though I was not "botched", I still wasn't happy with the length of my labia or the extra skin around my clitoris. I had done my research (in the California area) on Real Self, pouring over hundreds of "before & afters", before I decided to reach out to Dr. Goodman. I was going to be traveling a good distance to see him, so I had made my mind up to have a consultation AND have the procedure done same day.
Dr. Goodman and his staff made me feel at ease immediately upon my arrival. The waiting area was very homey and they offered snacks and juices/coffee/teas. In my consultation, Dr. Goodman asked me what I was unhappy with and allowed me to show him in a mirror the areas that bothered me. He did a thorough examine and made sure to repeat my concerns, letting me know he fully understood why I was there. He explained my options and then offered his professional opinion on what he believed would suit me best, again, repeating back to me my biggest areas of concern and how this method would be the ideal course of action to achieve the look I wanted. Because I was not satisfied with the color of my labia or the wrinkling on my labia, we opted for a trim with clitoral hood reduction.
He showed me numerous photos of the several hundreds of patients he's worked on and pointed out ones that were specific to what I was having done. He made sure I had a very strong understanding of what he was doing and what kind of results I could expect, but never gave me false hope that I would look a certain way which I appreciated. (no two vaginas are the same) He also extensively covered my recovery. At this point I trusted him completely and gave the go ahead for the surgery.
Before the surgery, I was quite nervous so he gave me something to help ease my nerves. The actual surgery was a breeze. The most uncomfortable part was the numbing of the area, which was worse for me due to the fact I was having two procedures done (labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction). I also have an extremely low pain tolerance and high anxiety when I don't know what to expect. Nicole, Rachel, and Dr. Goodman talked me through it and made it 100% more bearable than I imagined it to be. Surgeries took less than an hour. There are funny posters on the ceiling to read and I was able to talk to Rachel and Nicole during my entire procedure which was a nice distraction. After it was over, he handed me a mirror and we looked at what he just did. He went over an area that was quite hard due to my anatomy and said we need to watch it heal but overall was satisfied with the procedure. Again, I can't stress how much I appreciated his honesty.
Nicole drove me to my hotel and made sure I was settled. She even ran inside a restaurant to pick up my Togo order. Dr. Goodman had given me his cell and told me to contact him no matter what regarding my surgery. He was always there to answer my questions.
I had a rough recovery (I am a very slow healer!) and admittedly am an over-worrier. The actual pain level is extremely low, I barely required Advil post op, so when I say rough, I'm talking about how my body decided to heal. Dr. Goodman and his staff welcomed my embarrassingly frequent contacts and never made me to feel like a nuisance. Because Dr. Goodman was working on a previous labiaplasty and the way my anatomy decided to heal itself, Dr. Goodman said I may need a small revision once it has healed. He said it would be free of charge as he fully stands behind his work and truly wants me to be satisfied. I waited 9 months before we scheduled my revision.
Revision was a breeze since I already knew what to expect. He made me feel valued and didn't rush me onto the operating table. He spent just as much time going over the revision as he did in our original consultation. I was only getting one side worked on, so the procedure took less than 20 minutes to complete. I was able to drive home right after the procedure and the staff provided me with a cold ice pack and donut to sit on to make my long drive more comfortable.
Follow up care has been just as attentive as before. I'm so thrilled with my final result and am so glad I decided to work with Dr. Goodman. He is truly an expert in this sensitive area, honest, and extremely diligent. I can't recommend him enough. If you're considering this procedure, stop looking and book a consult with him. You will not regret it!
