I underwent double eyelid surgery & am very happy with the results. My eyelids before were monolids & eyelashes that refused to curl up due to the excess skin weighing on them. Unless I was smiling, people would constantly ask me why I was tired or why I was annoyed - which wasn't the case, that was just my face in a relaxed position!I had considered doing this surgery for several years & finally picked up the courage to go through with it. In my research I had also consulted Andrew Kim, Peter Kim & considered even travelling to Korea to undertake the surgery there but decided it was better to do it locally due to the language barrier & access to the Surgeon if there were any post-operation complications or concerns. I had met with Dr Liew & appreciated the thorough consultation he gave me including measuring my tarsal plate, advising which type of crease would suit my eye shape (we both agreed a natural crease with a lateral flare) & he allayed my concerns about scarring. The initial consult fee was $250, i saw this as an investment given I was after the best for my face but I also felt it was worth it given the time he spent with me covering all these details, my consults with the other surgeons mentioned lasted 5-10 minutes maximum. I felt very comfortable with Dr Liew & knowing he is a highly experienced and well known facial & reconstructive plastic surgeon made me feel he was the right Surgeon for me.The operation itself was very quick, I was injected with a sedation that relaxed me and sent me to sleep for a short period and I woke up half way through the procedure. There was never any pain during or after the procedure, in fact - I never had the need to take any pain medication. I was also really surprised how LITTLE bruising there was, I have seen other people's eyelid procedure pictures on realself with dark purple bruising, i did not have any of this! A combination of my good genes for healing & most definitely Dr Liew's skills and techniques in minimising trauma to the eyelids!I will be honest & say there were several moments of doubt and concerns while I was recovering at home post surgery - thoughts like....is this amount of swelling normal? is my crease too high? is my crease not well formed as it should be? It was in these moments that I know I made the right decision to have this procedure done locally. At my follow up appointments with his nurses if I had any concerns Dr Liew would see me to address this personally & I would also send him several text messages with any concerns and pictures to which he would reply back to me quickly and in one case, met with me the next day on a weekend to repair a slight opening after the incision hadn't 100% healed after my stitches were removed the day before. I have been really impressed with the care and genuine concern of Dr Liew. He could have easily dismissed my concerns to allow more time but he cares about his patients and his results so will give the proper attention to ensure you have the best experience possible. His staff and nurses are all absolutely fantastic too, I felt so comfortable everytime I came to the clinic for follow ups and the nurses were very receptive to any concerns or feedback I had.My eyelids now have a natural crease and my eyelashes are able to hold a curl and mascara. It was a small change that has made a significant impact to the expression of my eyes.
