First Time Getting Braces at 21 (Damon)!

WORTH IT$6,050
Hey all, just got braces for the first time at 21! Decided to go with Damon Upper Clear with an estimated treatment time of 22 months. I've grown up never smiling because of my teeth so I am super excited to finally get them fixed! I have spaces as you can see and a 9mm overjet. Yikes! They are my biggest insecurity. Just got the braces on yesterday and it wasn't painful putting them on at all! Took about an hour. Its been a day and the only thing I can say is that my teeth feel super sensitive and I can't even imagine biting or chewing on anything. Sticking to a liquid diet until the pain subsides. I also am getting pretty dry lips so lip balm is my savior. I fear having to floss and brushing my teeth has been rather painful. Any tips? Will keep this updated. Next appointment is in September.

Almost 5 month update!

Approximately 4.5 - 5 month update! Teeth appear to be moving and progressing so much! My front two teeth no longer rest on my lip, the space has reduced, and some of my bottom teeth have alligned. I had my wire changed a few times (the most recent time a few days ago and this was a much thicker wire on my bottom teeth which ached for a few days). Overall I am having no issues with my damon braces and have come to love them! If anyone is considering braces I definitely recommend them. I am wondering at what stage do they put rubber bands in to fix the allignment and if they will even do that (I hope so!). I will update again once I see more progress.

I am thinking about getting Damon braces for my gap and overbite. Do you have anymore updated pictures? How much was the cost?

$6400 was the cost broken down over 2 or 2.5 years, I forget. But my dental insurance from work covered like $1500 of it which was amazing. It's less than $200 a month. I just posted an update which is months after this comment but hopefully you were able to get Damon!

Almost 15 month update

It's been 10 months since my last update! I've had numerous wire changes, bands temporarily put around my top 4 teeth to help close the gaps, and now my bottom teeth ever so slightly filed in between eachother by the orthodonist to make spaces because of overcrowding.

I love my progress and this experience so far. It's truly been nothing but a blessing. I cannot wait to see the final results. I believe I have about a year left. Honestly I'm so used to having them on (I never notice them and I eat whatever I want haha), that when my doc takes the wire off for changing, my teeth feel naked!

Damon is great so far! 11/10 recommend for those with similar issues as me (overbite and over jet/gaps). The best part about damon is that they tighten themselves so reducing the number of visits!

If these reviews/ updates are helping anyone out there, I'd be more than happy to post more updates on my journey!!
