7 Months Postop - Down 50 lbs!!!

Height - 5'6"
Surgery/starting Weight - 222 lbs
Current Weight - 172 lbs
Goal Weight - 152 lbs

Best advice I have for anyone considering this surgery is DO IT! I look totally different as a result of my 50 lb weight loss. I went from size 16 (and those were getting tight) to size 10 in just 7 months without exercise (other than some walking during lunch occasionally) or ever feeling deprived for even a minute. I can eat anything I want, I just do so in fairly small amounts. Although I can eat bigger meals than during the first couple of months after my surgery, it is still a small meal compared to before. Most of the time I still make at least 2 meals out of stuff that is typically 1 meal. I can have cookies, or cake or whatever I want and I only eat a small portion with no temptation to overdo it and I don't do that too often. This surgery has been life-changing for me. The best part is that I have no fear of regaining the weight because it is all just coming off effortlessly based on eating when I am hungry but not overdoing it. Don't get me wrong, you do need to still exercise self control after this surgery because I know you can "eat around" the surgery by essentially continuously eating small amounts of high calorie food. But the level of self control you need is fairly small when the surgery has made your stomach 1/3 of its previous size.

I regularly go up the stairs at work fairly effortlessly (I'm on the 3rd floor and although that isn't all that much, before the surgery I always took the elevator up). The weight loss has slowed to only about 3-4 lbs per month now but that is okay with me since I already feel fantastic. I'm very eager to leave the 170s behind forever. I do know that I need to get myself to the gym and get more active to lose these last 20 lbs before next summer but I'm pretty confident I will get it going here with the New Year.

6 weeks postop - down 24 lbs

Surgery weight: 222 (no preop diet)
Current weight: 198

Today is 6 weeks postop and weight loss has been really really slow over last week or so. Part of problem was I wasn't getting enough protein because I had stopped drinking protein shakes but i started back up a few days ago. Finally most of my size 16 are getting too big! I never did get larger size than that but they were getting pretty tight. So glad to be under 200 lbs and most of all thrilled to know I'm never going back there again!

Just had surgery on May 31, 2016. Will update very soon. I just got to 5 weeks post-op today and I'm down 22 lbs. I started at 222 and, as of 2 days ago, I weigh 200 lbs. I am 5'6" tall. I had this surgery after a friend of mine had it 6 months earlier (I didn't know she had the surgery until she was 6 months post-op since I don't see her regularly).
