WORTH IT
Love the overall outcome of my surgeries. Just want to warn people of bad reactions from Scaraway silicone sheets. 5 months after my surgery I was healing beautifully. I was still wearing the scar sheets. One night I woke up with the scars under my breasts blistered, oozing, red and painful. Now, 6 months later the same reaction has happened to the scars on my abdomen and bellybutton. Just want to warn you of the possible, terrible reactions to Scaraway silicone sheets.

How long had you been wearing the scaraway sheets before the reaction? I hope healing is much better by now!

I know it’s been awhile since your surgery but I wanted to put this out there. It’s probably a reaction to the adhesive- like allergic. I have the same reaction to plastic dressings like tegaderm and bandaids. Happens if left on for more than a few days. If you start itching and get that peppered rash, you’re reacting to it and need to get a different product. The blisters with pain and/or itching is usually after using for probably several days. Broken blisters can get infected; keep clean and dry. Use a dressing on broken blisters. I’ve used gauze and paper tape. When changing it, put the tape on so that it doesn’t overlap the old area, put only on normal, intact skin. No alcohol or other harsh antiseptics, no antibiotic ointment unless the doc says so. Let him/her know what has happened. Only wash with gentle antibiotic soap and warm water. If soap burns a lot, ask the provider for help. If the area looks really bad, tell the provider right away before you do anything to it except rinse with warm water and apply a dry dressing. I react to bandaids, plastic dressings and medicated patches… so far. Have dealt with this awhile. When treating these rashes, less is better. Skin is already angry and needs time to heal itself. Adding medical harsh creams and liquids to it is unkind to yourself-(ouch) and bad for the delicate skin.

Sorry you had this happen! It’s miserable! Hope this helps someone.
