Skinpen and fraxel ruined my skin
I put my review in the wrong place. My journey...
I put my review in the wrong place. My journey includes microdermabrasion Chemical peels. Skinpen. IPL. Fraxel and microneedling. See below my experience. This was done by a couple different estheticians at a Spa. I really feel they have no business doing these procedures. I disclosed that I have Hoshi Moto. Also knowing a derma roller did damage.... that itself should have told them I wasn't a good candidate for Skinpen.
In 2104,2105 & 2016 I went in to the spa per someone I knew because I used a Derma roller and I saw a couple of dents on my cheek. I was told by someone I trusted to get micropeels which is mircrodermabrasion and chemical peel during the same session. Later I was told the Skinpen would do amazing to get rid of the couple of dents caused by the demaroller. I had two over a time period of about 6 months. I was advised a photo facial or IPL would help as well so I had a couple of those over time as well. I noticed tiny holes all over my face that were not going away so I looked up some things online and came across a video for laser fraxel. a so called Doctor came to the sap and did fraxel. All it did was give me an orange peel texture. So, I didn't do anything for a long g time because I felt I let people destroy my skins barrier. My skin got worse it started looking like I had acne scars. Crepey and lines. Aged.in Oct 2016 I finally started doing microdermabrasion again and some LED lights. After 6 months I felt my skin didn't look any better. Maybe worse. So I went to a dermatologist who suggested laser and I said no. He said superficial microneedling called dermafrac. I agreed after much discussion. He felt it was the best thing to build collagen. Since March 2017 I have had 9 now and a couple microdermabrasion along with eating right. Taking Vitamins best for skin and hydrating with the best skin serums for cell turnover. The photos are where I am at now. although I do feel that collagen has built I am still not happy with my skin texture or tone. I want to focus on facials - like oxygen facials - LED lights for tightening and tone. As well as lightening of the skin due to hypopigmentation and melasma caused by the things I have let people do to my face. I can't completely blame anyone. I let them do it. Did I trust them? Yes I did. But I should never have taken the chance when I had beautiful skin and I should have only seen a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Any suggestion are appreciated. As I just laugh these days at how stupid I was to let people do this to me. I really don't know what I was thinking!!

So, your dermatologist said because you have Hashimotos (thyroid condition) microneedling of any kind is contraindicated (not recommended)? I have been hearing more and more about this.
The whole point of CIT (collagen induction therapy) is to purposefully wound/injure the skin to create a healing response, so if someone's immunity is in any way comprised, that repair process could be interrupted.
I personally do not use the PIN/PEN (I've used handheld dermastamps for years). I think the mechanical pen lays down too many punctures per square inch creating a "tenderizing" effect. Especially if the needles are set too deep. Combine that with a hindered immune/healing response to that overkill wounding, and you can have detrimental scarring.
Would you say the pen primarily caused the hypopigmentation?
Thank you for you cautionary review! It adds to the discussion because unfortunately we often have to learn things through trial and error.
I personally love grape seed oil for facial skin at night. It has easily-absorbed ceramides and can stabilize the lipid barrier on the skin because it mimics lost sebum.
Take care.
