I'm going to give you a very honest review. Please...
I'm going to give you a very honest review. Please read this and my second (short) post before you get micro needling done this way (SkinPen / DermaPen type of device). It was only $100 because they discounted the treatment greatly after I had a reaction.
I researched micro needling (at home, in spa, different types, ect), SkinPen and DermaPen for MONTHS before getting it done. I researched the best places in Dallas to get the treatment, and when I finally chose a place, I researched them as much as I could. I read reviews for every type of micro needling, I dug online for adverse reactions, I did everything I could do until I felt 100% confident about getting this done. And after all of that, I 100% regret getting it done.
I'll skip the details about the medspa, how beautiful and serene it was, and how sweet and amazing the woman who treated me and the owner was. Because what's left afterwards is all that matters and it's what I have to live with and continue to try to correct. I don't believe at all that it was their fault or their doing. I think it was a mix between the actual device and that I am a part of the apparently "small" percentage of people who have an adverse reaction. I use the term "small" very loosely.
1- If you have seasonal allergies, you will probably swell severely. I wasn't aware of this until half way through the treatment when I started swelling like someone had used my face as a punching bag. The woman treating me started to look frightened, which didn't help my nerves at all. That's when she asked me if I had bad seasonal allergies. Apparently needling the crap out of your sinus areas (around nose, between brows, but mostly under eyes/front of cheek bone areas) will make you look like Rocky Balboas rival AFTER the fight is over.
Look, several doctors have said "maybe it was your reaction to the products they put on your face before the treatment". No. No, it wasn't. Those products have been applied to my face several times over before that day. And it did start when she worked over my sinus area next to the cheek bone. The swelling JUST KEPT SPREADING.
She asked me if I wanted her to continue. I said yes, I figured it was the same as most anything we go through and hate (waxing, fillers, whatever). The mentality of "suck it up and just get it over with and treat/calm the skin later". Turns out, after she kept going for another minute or 2, she pulled the plug on continuing. She left the room and brought in the owner who examined my face. They decided to stop the treatment, put some type of cryotherapy/dry ice/whatever that was on my face to try to calm the inflammation. It didn't work. They sent me home with instructions to grab some Benadryl to take when I got home and to get some *CERAVE face cream* (I'm emphasizing that because she said the Cerave day cream and night cream are the best possible products you can get at a drug store and that Cerave was the closest product to the very expensive high quality face creams that they carry at the med spa. FYI- in case you wanted to try it for a couple of months.
Anyways, I looked HORRIBLE and almost my entire face was massively swollen and really red. Even my lips & around my eyes.
The lady who treated me gave me her personal cell phone number before I left so that I could keep updating her for the next few days on how my skin was recovering (yeah, very very sweet. But also a very bad sign). But she was extremely sweet and caring. This wasn't her fault.
For the next few days, the swelling continued to go down and the "got my butt kicked" look was going away more and more each day. The Benadryl helped, the face cream helped, and that sweet lady text me and called me several times a day to check on me. I think they gave me a discount for another treatment or facial they offered, but after this experience, I was leaving my face alone for a while and she agreed that was best.
So, BIGGEST issues:
At about a week and a half after that, I was actually excited because I *thought* my skin had really improved. It turns out, it only looked better because my face was still swollen. After about 3-4 weeks, my pores and wrinkles started getting more and more dramatic. Pores were getting larger, wrinkles were getting deeper. For the next several weeks, my pores ALL OVER MY FACE were getting progressively larger (SO much larger than they were before and all over my face, whereas before the pores that were larger than I wanted were just around my nose and the front of my cheekbones.) NOW they were big everywhere and I would say at least 3-4 times as big as they were before. I'm talking, all over my cheeks, my temples, all the way to my hairline, my chin, my upper lip, EVERYWHERE.
Not only did I get MORE wrinkles, I also delevoped crepey skin, not directly under my eyes (she didn't micro needle directly under my eyes), but when you smile, if you trace your finger from the outer corner of your eye in a half circle around the outside of the apple of your cheekbone. ALL of that about an inch thick on both sides of my face became crepey. Lines around my mouth became deeper.
The quality of my skin severely dropped. It looked like I aged 7 years within 6-8 weeks. Yet, doctors tell me, and they'll tell YOU, that's not possible, there's no adverse reactions like those to electronic DermaPen/microneedling devices. That those issues come with skin aging, it must have been the products they used, ect ect. Your skin doesn't age 7 years in 6-8 weeks, okay? No. It just doesn't. Even if your skin doesn't like Vitamin C, ect.
