While shopping online for a plastic surgeon I ran across the Real Self page and decided to inquire about Dr. Standefer. I requested information online on a Saturday night and I was contacted by the Office Consultant the following Monday. The entire procedure was explained to me in great detail and I was given the opportunity to ask questions w/o feeling rushed.

Once my surgery was scheduled, I met with Dr. Standefer(who, by the way, is so pleasant and down to earth) and Jeri , the RN for my pre-op visit where once again, the procedure was explained in great detail.

Sherri, the surgery tech was also so comforting and helpful from the beginning of the surgery to the very end. The entire office staff was so very polite and helpful throughout the entire process. They were so accessible when I had questions regarding my aftercare and all concerns were addressed satisfactorily. Some of these concerns were even addressed after hours.

I can not say enough about Dr. Standefer and his entire office staff. I am VERY pleased with my end results. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Standefer. Hopefully the pictures I post will appear. The before picture doesn't do justice in showing just how bad my under eye bags were. There has been a drastic change in my eye appearance. I look less tired. Bags are gone!!! Dr. Standefer is the best!

Your results are amazing!  Did you have external or internal stitches?  What was your recovery like?

March 8, 2016
Thanks Jill!. I had external stitches which were removed in 7 days.

The recovery process wasn't awful, but I did have quite a bit of bruising and swelling. I have my surgery done on a Thursday and I went back to work at the end of the following week. There was some pain involved but it was minimal or maybe I should say tolerable with mild narcotics. I'm very pleased with my results! If I had to do it all over again I would Dr. Standefer is AWESOME.

I forgot to mention that my bruising and swelling lasted for approximately 3wks. I was able to hide most of it by wearing my glasses. I slept upright for approximately 2 wks and used ice compresses. routinely... I also used Arnica tabs to help with the bruising.

Sounds like you had a pretty routine/easy recovery!  Thanks for providing more detail.

I see this reply from you answered some of my questions! Thanks. I hope I get the nerve to have the same procedure soon.

I was nervous as well but I couldn't take the way I looked anymore. I made up my mind about 3 am one morning that come hell or high water I was going to have the surgery. That is when I was online searching....

If you can do it by all means do it bc it has been life changing for me....

Stepbr-how much arnica and what type did you take?
I'm planning on doing a lower bleph soon and want to be prepared

You look great! What does your scar look like? Is it visible and do you have to wear makeup to hide it? Lastly, were your stitches gone in a week when you went back to work?
March 8, 2016
Thanks. The scar in the right eye isn't visible at all. The scar on the left eye is barely visible. I really don't have to cover it with make up....

I still had stitches when I went back to work I probably went back too early(I went back 6 days post surgery) I ended up being off the very next day bc my eyes felt really tired I then had my stitches removed that day(1 wk post surgery)

Stephbr, your 'pre' photo looks exactly like me now. I have lower bleph for my bags together with upper bleph scheduled for July and I really hope my result is as good as yours. You look everything I want to achieve with my procedure. Your recovery sounds 'text book' too. I'm very envious and wish you best of luck with your beautiful wideawake face!

Thanks so much for the compliment. I was so self conscious about the bags of that had ,seemily quickly, formed... I feel so much more confident now...
My recovery was very textbook. I wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery!

You look great. I have under eye bags myself and want to get rid of them. How long did it take you to recover? Did you have bruises? Finally, were you under sedation and did it hurt? Thanks!

Thanks! I think I was fully healed after abt 5 wks. I just made my 6 wks visit. I had significant bruising and swelling but my surgeon informed me before hand..,

I was under twilight sedation and I had moderate pain but it was controlled fairly well with mild narcotics.....not too bad at all

I hope this helps

That does help because the dr here in the states I am considering does the eyes and the lower face under twilight sedation. Good to hear you had a good experience with that type sedation. Thank you so much for sharing!
