Dr. Standefer is awesome! Nine years ago he did my lower face with fabulous results that have held up amazingly well. So, when I decided it was time to do something about my droopy eyelids and get rid of lines around the mouth accumulated after 35 years of smoking (quit in 2009), there was nobody I would consider having do the work for me except Dr. Standefer. He has a great eye and the perfect artist's touch to make you look refreshed without looking "pulled" or "worked on". It's very obvious that he takes great pride and gets real joy from making people look better!

Dr. Standefer did full face Fractional CO2 laser to get rid of the smoker's lines and tighten loose skin, a brow lift to open up the eyes, and upper lids to remove the excess skin. I am so happy with my results!!! My husband constantly comments about how much more open my eyes look. Dr. S did the perfect amount of tightening without leaving me with that "surprised" look many people have after a brow lift. And I had not realized until I saw my "after" pictures how much my forehead was sagging.

Dr. S and his staff explained all the procedures and what to expect as far as healing and aftercare. Before the procedures they made sure we had office and cell phone numbers to reach the doc and his nurse anytime we had a question or concern.

My experience -

Upper Lids: were a piece of cake! There was a tiny amount of bruising, very minimal swelling, which went away very quickly and no pain at all. They advised me up front that my eyes would be dry after the procedure, but I have very dry eyes anyway and regularly use eyedrops about 8 or 9 times daily, so that was nothing new to me. They seemed well after 3 or 4 days.

Brow Lift: Dr. S had told me up front that he was hoping to be able to get enough lift by making incisions behind the hairline at the temples but might need to go all the way across to achieve the best results. He ended up going all the way across the front, and I was pretty concerned about how the scar would look until the stitches were removed. Having stitches in always makes things look worse than they really are. It is healing up very nicely and is already pretty unnoticeable when I have makeup on. I'm confident that it will be very hard to see after all is said and done. Many days I wear my hair pulled back off my face in a ponytail or headband and am already quite comfortable doing that again.

I had been informed up front that the scalp would be numb after the brow lift, and yes, it is. For me, that is the most annoying thing about any of the work I had done, but the numbness should be gone in about 90 days. Feeling seems to be coming back day by day from the back of the head forward and from the temples up. Although the numbness is a nuisance while blowdrying and using a curling iron, I remind myself that it will end and I'll still have my more youthful look!

CO2 Fractional Laser: I had seen plenty of Google images of how people look the day after this procedure, so was prepared for the scary look the next day. The day after, you return to the office and one of the kind and caring staff cleans off your face and the scary look is gone. You are left with a very sunburned look. What I hadn't seen much of and was not prepared for was the huge amount of swelling I had. This makes me think maybe not everyone experiences tons of swelling, and for me it was kind of distressing.

I followed instructions and washed my face three times a day, applied Aquaphor and did ice packs to keep the swelling down. For about the next three days my face so big I didn't even recognize myself as I passed a mirror. By the 9th or 10th day I still had quite a bit of swelling, but was comfortable enough to go out to eat with friends.

It takes 3-6 months to see the final results of the laser treatment. It has only been 5 weeks, and I can already tell that there has been considerable tightening of the skin and the smoker's lines are greatly diminished.

I would (and have) recommend Dr. Standefer to anyone looking for facial rejuvenation. The doc and everyone in the office are so personable and caring and helpful with questions and concerns! Wherever you live, he is worth the drive or flight.
