i am thrilled to have had this done. I have wanted to do this for years but was afraid of the pain, cost, etc. The surgeon that put in my implants and did a lollipop lift 19 years ago removed them I had no trouble with them i was just tired of having such large breasts. i did everything under local anesthesia and it was absolutely no big deal No pain involved, just the prick and a little bit of burn when they injected the numbing agent below each breast. An hour later i was shopping at the mall. I can't believe it took me years to get up the courage to go back in and do this. I am waiting to see how everything heals to see if i want to do any other lift adjustments. We spoke of removing any excess skin during this procedure, but it would have required me to go under general anesthesia and the cost was more than the explant. i will wait for these to heal and then go back for another procedure But, right now, i look so much better when wearing a tight fitting sweater. You notice me before you notice my breasts! Hopefully, the skin will tighten a bit more, but if not, i plan to go in for another small lift.
If you are thinking about it, DO IT! I could not be happier. I've attached pics, first two are pre- surgery this morning (one breast looks larger than the other only because i am holding my camera ) last two are right after surgery. i can't figure out why these pictures are posted upside down,

Thanks for sharing! I'm having mine out under local in December and nervous about it. Glad it was a breeze for you. Did you take any Valium or anything?

I can't believe i waited years to do this because i was so nervous about it. I was given a Xanax one hour before surgery. I was slightly nervous but all of the nurses kept telling me i would not be in pain. They were right! They also gave me a Xanax so i could sleep the first night, but i didn't need it. I haven't even taken a tylenol. I go in next MOnday for my check up. You should not worry about the surgery. For me it was worth it....My pictures don't look great, (it was an angle thing), but my breasts look awesome and every day they look better.

You look fabulous! Like most of the women on here - much better without the implants. I had revision 4 years ago and wish I'd just done explant...but now I'm ready - very ready!! You have encouraged me to be brave.
Keep us posted on your progress!

It was no big deal to do the surgery. I had a crown put on a tooth last month, that was much more uncomfortable and took longer!! The dr. asked me if i wanted to watch or have no view. I said "no view" they hung a sheet that hit around my neck. I felt the initial burn/prick of the needle, but as they continued to numb the area, the nurse would prick me only where it had previously been numb so i only felt the "burn" twice. And again, it is the same as when you go to the dentist! They used a device that made the incision, i couldn't feel it, but the dr. would tell me what he was doing with each step. Once the incision was made, he pulled the implant out. I could feel that sensation, but it was like someone was brushing up against me. He stitched me up and i could faintly feel the sensation of that. Then, he started with the second breast. ONce he was done, he put a tape of some sort over the stitches, and i was done. I did have a Xanax one hour before that made me very chill, but i didn't need it. I could have driven home (except i did take that Xanax (just in case). It has AT no time did i feel anxious or nervous about what was happening. It has been two days, no pain, no restrictions. I go to the gym. Today i even went to the chiropractor, didn't tell him i had an explant, and didn't even have issues with a back adjustment! (the dr. that performed the explant said it was ok) I wish i had never put in implants. I didn't realize that i would eventually want them out. My dr. told me mine held up really well for 19 years. They were still soft and looked like they would last me for quite some time- but NO THANK YOU! I love have smaller breasts. And the best part, i lost 1.6 lbs when they pulled them out.. ;)

Wow, that sounds so easy! I had general for my revision which was capsulectomy and exchange. My PS said I had the worst capsular contracture he had ever seen. But the recovery for that was easy. I only took pain meds a couple days. Hope this is even easier. I don't have a lot of sick leave so hope I can get back to my office job quick. My PS said I will not need drains which was a relief.
I've heard that it makes women look about 10 pds lighter when you have them out. I've gained about 20 pds since I first had implants - hope some of that is up top! Even though my implants are not what most consider large they feel too big to me and are getting hard again so I'm done. I know I won't look as good as you but it will be the real me and I will be free. No more expensive surgeries and worry. Heaven!

I'm betting you don't miss any day (other than surgery). I went shopping two hours later and then walked 3 miles that night. I didn't have drains either. I feel like i lost a lot of weight. I haven't seen my friends in the past few days, but i will tomorrow. I can't wait to see if they notice. I've never told anyone i even had implants (only my husband and the dr-) I also weigh about 15 pounds more than i did when i had implants. I was super skinny back then. I;m still pretty fit, but i felt they made me look fatter. I felt everyone noticed my boobs first. I hated it. I couldn't wear a small sweater because it pulled across the chest and just made them even more noticeable. I am still probably going to be a 34 B to C cup. We will see what happens with the swelling . I was a DD It feels so good to be this "small". I wish you the very best on your surgery. You've been through a lot!

What is the "capsule" that you said you chose not to have removed? I have a consultation Monday. I want mine out yesterday!

Only my oldest friends and my mom know I had BA. I moved to another state after getting it and no one in my new social circle knows. I think I will probably just look like I lost weight - that stubborn 5 pounds I always wish I could lose! I was totally flat at 26 but weighed under 100 pds then. I'm a more normal 20 pds heavier now. Hope some of that is up top. I've read that many women who have been through menopause are surprised that their breasts are fuller than they expected after explant. I am a 36B with implants and that looks and feels too big to me. I have some cute bralettes and snug sweaters I can't wait to wear. I will be completely happy with just a bit of shape and not terribly saggy. The PS told me I have excellent skin tone and he doesn't predict that. He didn't try at all to talk me into more implants. In fact said many women my age decide to explant. He said as we age, priorities change. So true!
Thanks for your support and encouragement. It helps a lot!!

Good luck! I hope you post on my link when you do yours, so i can follow it. My friend today looked at me and asked me if i had lost weight (i did lose about 8 pounds wanting to look my best after this procedure) but she said, you look different ... Umm I lost my boobs! Just accepted the compliment and moved on. Yes, losing your boobs does make you look thinner.... MY husband has told me more than once this week those exact words. I can wear a size small in a sweater without feeling self conscious. A larger sweater just makes you look larger all around. Now, i am back in the right size.! A size 4 blouse doesn't pull at the chest. OMG I am so happy. I can't believe i was ever that stupid to get implants.... You never think about the fact one day you will want them out and how it stretches out your skin. I think if anyone had ever shown me the pics of people in their fifties getting them removed, i would have changed my mind. If i would have been told the average life of an implant is about 10 years, i definitely would not have gotten them. Good luck. I can't wait to hear about your procedure. You won't regret the procedure!!!

Hi I am getting my implants out in november. Currently I am to do this under local but now I am having many people tell me I won't heal from Breast implant illness if I don't do an EnBloc removal of the capsule. I functions at 75% I have had insomnia for 7 years and brain fog, that's the worst of it. Did you have any BII symptoms and if you did did you find relief after they were removed.

I did not have any illnesses associated with my implants. I was just tired of them. I did not have the capsule removed. My dr. said it was only necessary under certain circumstances and i had less than a 5% chance of having any issues if the capsules were left in. Removing the capsules makes it a bigger surgery. If it isn't necessary, i didn't want to have to go through the pain. It has only been 2 days since my procedure and i feel great. I am so glad i did it under local I was very worried about the pain. It was nothing Trust your dr. Mine did both the implant and the explant, so he knew exactly what he wasT doing. Everybody is different. . Mine told me it was completely up to me whether or not i wanted to do a small lift at the same time (but then i would have needed general . If i do opt for a lift, i felt i needed to know exactly how i healed first before they started to make any cuts. If i needed to have the capsules removed i could have them removed and do a lift at that time. There was no need to rush to do everything at the same time since i was not being put under. Good luck!

Congrats on being on the other side! Glad you had a quick and easy procedure.
Congratulations on getting the results you were hoping for. You sound thrilled with your outcome!
Your photos look like they are upside down, but actually right themselves when uploaded (it's an annoying glitch on the site).
Good to hear, thanks for posting them. It's really helpful for other members of the community to see photos.
