Hello Everyone.....
I CAN'T BELIEVE TODAY MARKS ONE YEAR SINCE MY SURGERY!!! I thought I'd give an update on this past year and what it's been like for me with my new boobies! :-) LOL!
I haven't been on here in quite some time. Before and after October 10, 2014, I’ve spent a lot of time on this website. It’s a wonderful place to get valuable information as well as give it. It is very important to share your own private experiences in the hope that it may help others. Often at times, I felt like RealSelf was my own doctor. I always found comfort in knowing that I could talk with other women that were going through the same thing that I was. I’ve learned so much from all of them. As I look back one year ago tonight, I remember how badly I hurt, how scared I was looking at these strange new objects on my chest; a foreign object that I could not get used to. Luckily I had the best guy in the world that took care of me through all of it. I can honestly say you must have a good support system in place in order to maintain comfort through your healing process. I know I put him through Hell that first few weeks of my recovery, but he helped me through it all.

Finally after three months, I started to feel like these implants belonged to me. At six months, I barely noticed they were there. One year later, I feel as if I've had them my whole life. Sometimes I even forget I have implants, my only complaint would be, I lost sensitivity in my left nipple. However, they have definitely become part of me. I went 30 plus years wearing a padded 34 B cup bra. Now I'm a 34 D or a 34 DD, depending on the brand. Before my surgery I couldn't comfortably wear lingerie, swimming suits, or certain clothes because I felt insecure about how flat-chested I was. That feeling has definitely changed and I’m so glad I went through with the surgery. I feel like my confidence level in that area has grown immensely. I was even brave enough, for the first time ever to actually put on lingerie for my man and feel like a SEXY woman should feel.

In conclusion, if this is something you want for yourself then don’t hesitate to GO FOR IT! I’m glad I did! GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU…..

11 weeks post op.... It does get better!!!!!

Hi, I wanted to update real quick to let all of you know, it does get better. For all you ladies who are fresh out of surgery or even a month post op - I know you're still in a lot of pain and think it will never get better, IT DOES! This was definitely one of the most painful experiences I've been through. I am 5'5 and weighed 125 the day I had my breast augmentation. I got Saline 470 CC moderates in both. From that very first day through 6-7 weeks, the pain was excruciating, something I did not expect. It was weird because suddenly around the 6-7 week mark, I woke up one day and felt 95% better and/or normal. The pain had subsided a great deal. I still have "morning and night boob," I guess that is what they call it when your breast seem firmer when you wake up. I haven't been massaging like I was, and I do think that helps. I am very happy with my results. I think the saline ended up looking better than I anticipated. I hope everyone is doing well in your recovery. Much Love.

So helpful....I am almost a month post and am pretty uncomfortable (pain in between breasts, burning nipples) most of the day (not what I thought it was going to be) It's comforting to read this. Thank you!

You're so welcome! I've meant to update throughout but with the busy holidays it's been a struggle. I believe you are nearing a big change. I would say 4 weeks (1 month) post op is just getting to the top of the hill, you're almost there. Once you reach that plateau, things will smooth out and you will feel a million times better. I promise. I've been able to sleep however I want, even on my stomach. I don't have to constantly wear a bra. Those were a few of my hardest things. Hope you feel better soon. Please let me know how you're doing. :)

4 weeks post op 470 CC in both under the muscle

It has been a very long 4 weeks. I've finally gotten use to all the things I had to change. Sleeping in a bra, (yuck) sleeping on my back, (yuck) back pain, boobie pain, everything really. My biggest problem with this whole thing is the support bra. I have had a lot of frustration finding one that fits right, doesn't hurt, etc... the size and style my PS recommended gives me pain, mostly in my cleavage area. I am suppose to wear the bra for 6 weeks. I am wearing it but have taken 1 or 2 nights off! UGH! My left breast has been swollen and bigger than my right, and dropped first, but today they seem to have evened out some, and the pain isn't as bad. I have begun messaging regularly and over the past few days, they have felt much better. My PS said he doesn't think message hurts or helps. I would like to say that if you are planning breast augmentation soon, here is some of my advice..... 1.) lotion, lotion, lotion...... your chest, maybe message if PS allows. My skin stretching from the implants gave me a lot of pain and just felt creepy. 2.) really research the best support bras out there and don't let money be a deterrent. Remember you get what you pay for and you need comfort, comfort, comfort. 3.) Start practicing sleeping on your back, it will be a big shock to you if you don't normally sleep that way. 4.) Take a full week of work. They say you can return in 3 or 4 days, not true for me. I have a sit down desk job and needing more rest and the extra weight up top, killed my back. 5.) Be patient!!! A lot easier said than done. Hope this helps someone. I will update again soon.

I am 49 and getting them done on December 4th!! Did your ps recommend hp at any point? Mine does but, I am a bit nervous about it. I don't want to look too high. We have the exact same measurements. Do you wish you had done it sooner?
User Avatar

Hi! Good Luck to you. Hope everything goes great! :) My PS did not recommend HP, probably not a bad idea at our age. Mine aren't too low but they could get that way, I suppose. These things feel heavier than their actual weight. lol. I don't know if it was age, size of implant but this was a lot rougher on me than what I have heard others say. I did have to have my breast fold lower because I was so small to begin with, so maybe that was more painful. I got 470 CC which my dr. thought was a little too big for me, but I'd be really upset had I gone any smaller, once the swelling goes down, they go way down. However, that size of implant stretched my skin and caused a lot of pain there too. I do wish I had done it earlier, I always wanted to but it never worked out. On the other hand, if I had read of all the possible complications I have read on here, I'd probably have chickened out. You hear of girls getting it done and you see the end result, so you think, it can't be that bad. There are so many changes to your body and a lot of it was hard. I'm a pretty big baby when it comes to pain though. Also, I had IV sedation. I've never been given Propofol before, but I really don't remember the first 6-7 days post op. It is very strange, I can remember bits and pieces of things that add up to about 15 minutes. I came to work that following Tues. & Wed. for half a day and I don't remember being there. Luckily I did not drive. ha! I don't want to sound all negative to you because I have been smiling and taking a lot of pictures. :) It's kind of cool to look down and see what you never had. lol. I just wanted to let you know the things I wish I had known before hand. One thing for certain, you can really get a lot out of this website. Don't be afraid to ask Dr. questions and reach out to others. Please feel free to write me anytime before and after, I'd love to help if I can. :)

Hi charry rose. I'm 49 and just had high profile (anatomical) mentor 345cc's. Am similar stats to tammy. I am very happy with the results so far and don't feel the high profile is a problem. With the anatomical the additional volume is in the lower portion of the implant so you don't get the football effect. I had to have high profile to get the volume I wanted as my chest and BWD are both small. Hope that helps
November 10, 2014
Thanks for your response. I am comforted by the fact that you had hp and were pleased. My doc didn't say anything about anatomical though?? I have another pre-op tomorrow and will ask him about it. How was your recovery?
November 10, 2014
Wow... sounds as though you had a bad reaction from the meds. That is pretty scary! I have almost chickened out a few times. I have thought many times that I am too old and don't want to be judged. But.....I have come to the conclusion that I have raised my kids and am finally in a position to do something for myself that I have thought about for years. I love this website and much appreciate your honesty. I just want to get to the "other side" LOl...

I agree that it is probably a good idea to go with high profile, especially at our age. Who knows what our future gravity holds! haha! Although I am happy with my results, I probably should have checked into them myself. Mine are falling where they need to be, just hope they know when to stop. ha. :)

I love this site too. I have used it almost every day to look up things that are bothering me. I have that weird noise, vibration sound and I read on here that it is normal. BTW, I thought the same thing, I'm too old! WE ARE NOT TOO OLD. The new 40's is 70's. We have a long way to go to enjoy our new look. I love them, and I believe you will too. I think once I get past the pains and they get softer, I will be really happy! You deserve it! You raised your kids! Come to the other side, it is amazing!!! lol! Good Luck to you. If I can help in any way, let me know. :)
November 10, 2014
Thank you for the encouragement! I feel very young for my age. Just a number right??
November 10, 2014
I had over muscle and I can honestly say no pain. I bit tight but nothing you'd call pain. I didn't have any pain killers after I came out of the recovery room or since. I'm pretty amazed but from what I've read this is largely down to going over the muscle. There's more detail and pics on my review which I'll update weds after my post op follow up appt. I honestly was back to normal mobility and activities (except exercising and running) the following day. Am so glad I did it. It's never too late and we have decades of pleasure to get out of these babies yet. I've never had boobs - always been flat- so it's an absolute joy. Hubby can't believe how happy it's made me. Good luck and as Tammy says "come to the other side" x

LOL! I bet he is. I have to give so much credit to my boyfriend for dealing with me the first week. I'm suprised he even likes mine after what I put him through. lol! I whined, cried, complained, probably was bossy and demanding (can't remember) but he bent over backwards taking care of me. And now four weeks later, I am constantly talking the medical side of my boobs. lol! But, when it's time to buy new lingerie, I'm sure he will forget everything up to that point. lol! That is the one thing I could never wear, and the #1 thing I am looking forward to putting on. :)

From now on, it will only get easier... I am 2 months post op. I love BALI 3484,3488....I wear it every day, even now..and love it. They don't advertise it as a sport bra, more like bali comfort revolution smart size shaping wire free bra or something like that, but it works, it gives me good support and super comfortable. I remember shooting pains in my back from other sport bra. My PS approved this bra. I am 34C, slim and I fit in Small size.

Hi, thank you for your comment. I'm looking forward to easier! lol! I've looked at the bali brands and they do look comfortable. How do they fit in between the cleavage. I'm not sure what it is but when the bras push my breast towards my cleavage, it hurts. I have really close cleavage so they may be it, but I'm scared I'll get the uniboob. :/ Also, do you do massage? I've been doing it for the past 4 days and it seems to help. I've been putting coconut oil on them because my skin was stretched so tight. UGH!

I am SO GLAD I found your entries b/c I am going in for a BA this Friday (11/14/14) and am really nervous! This is a revision for me (have saline from 2001...they are pretty "fake" looking as I don't have much body fat in my upper body (was FLAT before first BA) and I am seeking a more natural look with some modifications the PS can make as well as going with silicone. I really appreciate your advice and insight. I hope my results are as good as yours! Thank you again for your updates!
User Avatar
November 10, 2014
Hi, Good Luck Friday! Wishing you a sucessful surgery. I wanted silicone too, but I went with saline. I'm very surprised mine are turning out pretty good considering. I was worried about the fake look of saline. Other than your feeling that yours has the fake look, how has the saline implants been over the years?? That's a long time to have them. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :)
November 11, 2014
These silicone implants have given me ZERO issues over the years! It wasn't long before they felt like a "part of me" if that makes any sense. I believe the only reason they look "fake" (to me...my husband disagrees) is because I literally have ZERO breast tissue to help smooth them out. For example, my last mammo showed "dense" breast tissue and I have a family history of breast cancer, so the radiologist had me come back in for an ultrasound. She was so kind and explained what she was seeing on the screen...she showed me layer-by-layer (skin, fat, muscle, breast tissue...) what each thing was and also gave the approximate depth of each...so when she got to the "breast tissue" explanation she said, "And this is your breast tissue...about 5 millimeters." FIVE MILLIMETERS! At that moment I decided that I will NEVER feel bad about getting "fake boobs." Ha! Anyway, I have gone back and forth over the past couple years about whether to switch them out (seems like a "waste" of money if you know what I mean) and finally decided that it is worth it. I have seen hundreds (if not more) pre- and post-op photos of ladies who switched and I do believe there is a good chance I will get a more natural look. They aren't huge or anything (I never wanted that), just too round and perky. Your saline looks FANTASTIC! I'd say your results are nearly the best I have seen...and believe me, with all my research, I have seen A LOT of boobs!
November 11, 2014
I just realized I wrote "silicone" instead of "saline" in the first sentence above!
User Avatar
November 11, 2014
Really? That a huge compliment. Thank you. I'm kind of surprised that the "saline" implants are turning out better than I expected. Now I'm thinking, "just think if you'd gone with silicone" ha! I still have crampy feelings, mostly at night and in the morning. Some PS (mine) say message doesn't do anything, but I'd have to disagree, it seems to be helping me. I was also told when I had my mammogram, that I have dense breast tissue. WHERE? ha! I thought you said you have "saline" from 2001? What CC's are you getting on Friday? It's getting closer, I bet you're getting excited?
