So like most women on here, I'm in need of some help…some major help in the chest area after having my daughter in 2015! I breastfed her for a little over 6 months and quickly noticed a decrease in my breast tissue which left me with a very deflated chest ? I am 31yo, 5’3”, 110lbs, and workout 5x per week. I had my first consult on March 20th and decided on Sientra Textured Round under the muscle 350-400cc (not sure yet). My PS decides projection on the day of surgery but I’m leaning towards moderate plus or high profile if I get to choose.
I KNOW everyone talks about boob greed and it’s so hard to be debating between 50cc’s but honestly in my 3D renderings the 400cc look way too big to me (especially from the side) and the 350cc looks about right. BUT I’ve read that when you go under the muscle you should go up at least 25cc which would mean I should choose the 375. My goals for a BA are: Increase in size which is proportional to my frame, Natural feeling, No large gap in between my breasts, minimal but some side boob, and I do NOT want to look top heavy or out of proportion. Lots of criteria, I know :( so its been really stressful for me going back and forth on this.
My pre-op appointment is on April 17th with my surgery scheduled for May 5th! I am very nervous as I do not want to pick the wrong size. I would love to hear from anyone getting Sientra Textured Round implants with stats close to mine. And I would like to thank all the ladies on RealSelf, you have no idea how helpful you’ve been! I’ll definitely update after my pre-op appt!

You are a little shorter and thinner than I am. I am 5'5 and 130lb. I got 2 different sizes sientra textured round mod+. I was told that I could not go any larger than 435(r) 375(L) I did two different sizes to balance out my asymmetry. I think you would want to go up the next size larger than the size that you think looks good. That is what my PS suggested and I am so glad. I sometimes feel like they are too small when I put clothes on. Some of my pictures make them look huge, but when the camera is not right there on them I think they look moderately small/average. Most people can't even tell I had surgery. They look way better in a bra and swim suite than they did before my surgery though! I'm super excited about that! I am interested to hear what your PS said about getting HP. Mine said that because of my wide gap and the direction my chest was that if I got HP it would make them project out more in a direction that would make my gap look larger. Best of luck on your decision, your surgery, and your recovery!

Hi! Yeah I talked to my PS about the HP because I really want the Mod+ and he said it will all just depend when I get in surgery. The Mod+ implants are wider so he does not want me to have a uniboob but I'm willing to go down in CCs I think in order to get that profile. The main thing for me is is that I do not want big boobs just some shape and filling back in what I lost after breastfeeding. But ultimately he is the expert and I will likely let him decide based on my wish pics and 3D imaging what he thinks looks best. You look great btw - so glad you are enjoying your results! And thank you for the well wishes!

It crazy how everything about what you are and what you want matches w me. I had the same thoughts before about debating between 350-415 and went with 385cc and love my size. I have moments where I wish I would’ve went bigger but it wouldn’t have balanced my small frame. Plus it would’ve completely thrown off my busy gym routine. I’m excited to read the rest of our review and see what you decided.

Pre-Op Appointment

A1986W
I had my pre-op appointment yesterday! Everything has been finalized! I got to try on sizers again and meet with staff nurses to once again discuss surgery procedures. I tried on the 300cc and 350cc sizers and actually liked the 300s the best which is different than my first appointment where I really favored the 350s. I could tell my husband was "secretly" wanting me to choose the 350s so I asked the nurse her opinion. She looked at my wish pics and the two different sizers in my bra. She quickly said I needed to go with 350s for the look I was wanting to achieve. My husband was definitely happy to hear that and I figured why not?! It's only 50cc (2 tablespoons) more and everyone talks about boob greed, etc... plus they looked just as good as the 300s and I could only tell a slight difference between the two.

The nurse then went over everything regarding medication, before/after surgery, limitations, etc. I was given a LONG list of the medications that I need to take to the pharmacy but she also told me which ones were essential and which ones were not typically covered on insurance. I really appreciated her advising me of this because she stated that some medications on the list could run upwards of $300+ and not be covered. I will take this into consideration when getting them filled and decide based off her recommendations which ones I definitely need.

My PS then came in and I advised him that I wanted to discuss a few things first being the brands Mentor vs Sientra. I’ve seen a lot of women with the Mentor Smooth on RealSelf with results that I liked and I wanted to determine which implant is best for me since he uses both brands of implants. He stated that Mentor is a very good company and he uses their implants mainly in women wanting “unusual sizes” because they have a very high range of sizes in their catalog. However he prefers Sientra because they have a better highly cohesive gel, a better warranty, and the best company in his opinion. This was something I had already researched and found that it is more the PS and his techniques rather than the brand so I was fine with choosing Sientra.

Then I told him I wanted to discuss textured vs smooth. He had originally recommended the Sientra textured to me during my consult however, a lot of the videos that I've seen of the smooth implants show they are so movable and natural “feeling” whereas the textured are firmer and do not have as much movement. My PS thoroughly explained to me the benefits of the textured being their much lower rate for capsular contracture and the fact that having breastfed my daughter it would help with the sag my breasts currently have by acting as ‘velcro’ and how them in place. He said this was his recommendation but that he would use smooth if that’s what I wanted. I really appreciated him being open to my thoughts and feelings and not just wanting to do what he wants to do. It's definitely a trade-off but I decided to go with the safety factor over feel and choose textured. Plus I have seen videos that the textured still move and are "soft" just not as much as the smooth implants so I was comfortable with this decision.

The next topic I wanted to address with my PS was the profile. He was very open and asked for my thoughts on this and what I was wanting to see on myself. I told him all of my wish pics are moderate (plus) profiles and I asked if I could have this because I would rather have wider implants with less projection than too much projection as I have seen in many HP implants. He looked at my wish pics and said that I could probably do that unless during surgery he found that the moderate implants would be too wide creating a "uniboob" than he'd have to go with high profile. I said this was fine however I think that I would rather have a lower amount of CCs and the Mod+ profile than to have to have HP just to get 350cc. I will make sure that I am clear about this on the day of surgery because the difference in 300-350 is not that much but the width and profile of the implants vary between those sizes. I still do not know what my BWD but in comparing my wish pics to my 3D image, my PS stated “Wow you should be pretty much dead on!” So that made me happy to hear because I really liked my 3D image result for the 350s.

Lastly, I met with the patient coordinator to discuss final payment and confirm my surgery day. So at this point I am getting 355cc Sientra Round Textured Moderate Plus Submuscular Highly Cohesive “Gummy Bear” implants (WTH – 12.1cm, PROJ – 4.4cm). My surgery is scheduled for May 5th and I'm actually so much more calm since having the chance to double check sizers and confirm everything! I’m really excited and I will update after the procedure.

Hello , I had my BA almost 10 weeks ago. Mine Sientra mod+ 305cc Smooth Round. Very happy with results. I have to say Sientra implants taking longer time to soften. Mine slowly getting softer . And it might take up to 6 months for textured to get softer. It's all about being patient. All the best .

Thank you for your input!! You look like you've had great results! I have been worried about the softness of the textured but I think at this point I've decided to go with the safety of them over the feel. It's a trade off. I will definitely keep up with your posts though to see how things are progressing!

Did you read about ALCL and textured implants? I found information that made me very concerned about textured implants.
You still have time to talk to your doctor about it and find more information on this site .
I knew from the start I wanted smooth implants but my PC still told me about this issue with textured implants. It is a very rare complication but I thought it will be good for you to know before the surgery.
I personally found a lots of support on this site and my number 1 goal was Safety. Just ask your PC so you don't have to worry about it after.
All the Best

Yes I did a ton of research on it and talked to my PS on both occasions about it. It is so incredibly rare and there is a higher risk of issues with the smooth implants (bottoming out, capsular contracture, etc) so that's why I've decided on the textured. Yes, I've found so much support on here and truly appreciate everyone's input and experience! Thanks again! Congrats on your surgery!

Hey! I had my BA with Dr. Obaid on Tuesday, and it went so well! Good luck to you this Friday!
May 4, 2017
Thank you! I'm nervous but excited!! How are you feeling? I hear the first few days is rough. So glad things went well in surgery for you though. What did you end up with?
May 4, 2017
The first few days are definitely rough. I underestimated the pain. Laying down, even at an angle, is probably going to hurt. I ended up sitting on my couch hugging a throw pillow the first night, but everyone is different I'm sure. On a more positive note, Obaid and his team were amazing. I was super nervous the morning of, but after talking to the nurses and having my final chat with Obaid, I had 0 fear! After showing him my wish pics, he said 500 would probably get what I wanted and he ended up doing 505 in each. I haven't gotten to ask about the profile yet, though. :)

Finally done!

A1986W
Well I had my surgery yesterday on May 5th and I'm feeling really good! I went in thinking I was getting 355cc moderate plus but I haven't confirmed yet that's actually what I came out with since I know my Dr said one was slightly bigger than the other and I just left it up to his best judgment on what looked best based on my wish pics. So far I am very happy with the results and can't wait to see the final results! I am still very sore but feeling better and staying on top of my meds.

I was nervous about the size too that it would be too big but I think I picked the right size. Thank you for the sweet comments and good luck on your surgery!! Can't wait to see how yours turn out!
May 9, 2017
I'm hoping they aren't too small .. just because I feel like I have a wide gap right now & I really want them to be close together as possible. PS said he'll get them as close together as my body will allow. So I'm in high hopes. But thank you! Two more sleeps till surgery day.

Yes my PS played with sizes too. I found out today I got 355cc in my left and 385cc in my right. Both mod plus. So hopefully your PS will look at your wish pics and go from there! Good luck and so excited for you! Can't wait to see your updates!
