My doctor called me the evening before and asked...

My doctor called me the evening before and asked if I would like to be a test-subject for a "new procedure" called ThermiTight. He really gave me little information, other than saying there was literally no down time, or pain. He also said it may provide a 20 percent or more improvement to the jowl line. I haven't had a big issue or concern with my neck or throat area. It actually looked pretty good for my age. No horizontal lines on my neck at all. A small amount of slacking skin under the chin, when I look downward, as in a picture, etc. Anyway, I said sure - why not say yes to a free procedure. He told me that the ThermiTight people would be at his dermatologist office training he and another doctor. He needed 2-3 people as test subjects. The only instruction I had was not to eat or drink anything after midnight and my appointment was at 11:30 am the next day. I fully expected this procedure to be no big deal, and kind of superficial, because when I looked it up, I couldn't really see anything about it. Since the date, I am reading a lot! Of course, that would happen. Well, when I got to the office, a nurse took me to a room, had me put on a gown and head cover/socks. A doctor came in and marked my face. I was a bit apprehensive, because i didn't expect all of the foofaraw! My doctor came in and asked how my pain tolerance was. I said, um...pretty much low or zero! He said, I will give you a Valium now and pain meds for after. He said that the injections of the numbing fluid was the worst part. That was an understatement! To make this long story short, when they took me into the room, there were several people, including my doctor and another doctor. A nurse told me to relax, that I was in good hands. The doctor I didn't know, used a very long probe type of needle that he inserted into 3 small notches that he cut under my chin. One under each ear lobe and one under my chin. I was in excruciating pain! My doctor held my hand and told me to squeeze his fingers/hand, that It would be over soon. It felt like the doctor was scraping the needle HARD under the skin of my neck and chin. It made a sound in my ear, that sound like scraping metal on a board. It was unbelievably painful. I can't understand reviews I have read since, saying that it wasn't painful! OMG. The entire time, I was thinking WHAT HAVE I DONE. Well, once it was numb, the doctor was advised by the trainer or ThermiTight on what to do. Don't do that, hold it there longer, no - not there, too long - once again, etc., etc. I was a nervous wreck. Anyway, this doctor that I didn't know, did my left side and then my doctor took over and did the right side. They had my eyes covered, but I really think that caused me more anxiety. I was there for over an hour. When it was over (thank GOD) they sat me up and wrapped my chin/neck, over my head, like a head band that would go under your chin. They told me to wear it for the next 24 hours and following week in the evenings. Also told me to sleep elevated for the following 4 days. This happened to be my birthday week. I ended up having to cancel all my plans/parties/dinners for the following week and a half. It took 3 weeks for the swelling to go down enough, that I didn't look like I just had my wisdom teeth removed. I looked like a chipmunk. The bruising was minimal, it was mostly swelling. I used ice for the first 24 hours. I was so mad at myself, as I did not know what I was getting myself into. Just because it was free, it wasn't wise in my case. Now it has been 5 weeks. I don't see anything as far as "improvement". I still have swelling on one side of my face, so photos of me make me look like I've gained weight, or had dental work done. All I can say is, I hope that after several months, all the swelling is gone and there is some sort of improvement. I would never do this again, unless I was put under - even a light anesthetic. This is not painless - they use large, long needles to inject, and the injections were not quick. I could also feel the heat of the probe/procedure during as well, where they had to stop and inject even more lidocaine. UGH. Do your research before you say yes to any beauty treatment... that is my lesson learned.

I love my doctor. He is enthusiastic and kind. However, I wish he had given me a lot more information before I said yes. This is my fault, I'm not blaming him
