Hello realself. So I have been stalking this site for almost a year now and figured it was time that I post. I'm a mother of two kids ages 11 months and 3 yrs old. My husband and I are done having kids so I figured it was time to take care of myself. I currently workout hardcore at least 5 days a week and have been doing this for the past 10 yrs. I worked out through both pregnancies til I was 39 weeks pregnant. I have a very muscular build at 160 , 5'7". I don't want to get any smaller because this is a weight that I can maintain eating clean 5 days a week and in moderation during the weekends. I was 215 at birth from my son and lost all 40lbs I gained plus 15 more. As I stated I'm VERY active and plan to become a group fitness instructor this year.

I still have a mommy pooch and my healthy eating( NOT DIET) and exercise regimen have not reduced it all the way. I do wear a size 8 in most clothing, but I still have a little muffin top. Most ppl would think that this was a good size but because of how hard I workout I think I deserve to have a flat tummy.

So today Feb 6, 2015 I went in for my 1st consultation. I went to Cosmetic Plastic Surgery of Maryland in Hanover, MD. Now let me tell you I loved the place when I first walked in. It was very cozy and bright. The staff was pleasant too. I filled out paperwork and was called in the back. I then was asked to undress so that the PS could come look over my stomach and options. It was very nice of Dr. Ashruf to evaluate my body instead of the assistant. I took some pictures and then went over which options would work for me. The first thing Dr. stated was that I would see amazing results from a tummy tuck. WTF!!!!!A tummy tuck. Now I have attached some photos for you all to see and I don't think I even remotely needed a tummy tuck. I have reviewed many lipo photos and see there stomachs much bigger than mine with good results. First off I'm a stay at home mother now and don't have that kind of down time. Second I don't want to go thru that kind of pain and third I don't have that kind of money.($7,700). He assured me he could get my stomach flat with a tummy tuck. Of course for that price. SO then we discussed smart lipo. That quote was $4,750. Still over my price budget.

There for my search will continue for a doctor. I did like Dr. Ashruf and would recommend him if you need a tummy tuck. I saw pictures and they had amazing results. I however don't think I need this invasive surgery.

I'll be back later when I have other consultations and hopefully schedule my procedure.

P.S. Tell me what you think about my stomach. Honest opinions. Smart lipo for a flatter muffin top?

Hi tfaulk0509, you are definitely not a tummy tuck candidate. In my opinion (from the pictures that I have viewed on here as well as what I see when looking at myself) you are the perfect candidate for smart lipo. My stomach is much larger than yours, I went for my consult on January 30th (procedure scheduled for Monday February 9th) and was told that I should have excellent results. I am sure that the right PS for you will be honest enough to tell you there is not alot required to make you look even more fabulous. Happy searching!!!

I think going to more consultations is a good idea, though I don't think you'll get a much better price than the one you quoted, and, quite frankly, you don't necessarily want to take the lowest price and get no results.  It's possible you have some kind of hidden issue (like a diastasis) that would make smart-lipo not so useful for you.  But you'd either have to do a test on yourself to see whether you have it, or even better, ask the doctors that you see whether you have a diastasis.  If you don't, or if it's very small, then the smart lipo (or some other type of lipo) is the least invasive procedure you can get to actually remove stubborn fat in quantity permanently.  And even if you are left with a little extra skin, you won't have The Scar, and you'll look and feel so much better in your clothes.

Getting more doctor opinions is a really good idea.  You can also ask the doctors here on RealSelf (it's easy and free).  Just include the pics you included here and ask them what they think.  If you can take a pic of your tummy when you're halfway up in a sit-up or crunch, that might also be helpful.

Tummy tuck really! It appears as if you are doing some hard core weight lifting training but how are u doing with cardio? I think smart Lopo is a little over rated. The results are not significant enough to invest in at this time. Stay far away from the sugar and anything white don't bit

thanks lady300k. I do some cardio which consist of kickboxing, spin, and step aerobics. I run 2 miles energy now and then. Use to run half marathons but don't feel like running. Not good on your knees. I do easy sugar only one day a week. It's a lifestyle for me and not a diet and I refuse to cut out certain things. I don't eat white bread unless given at a restaurant. Thank you for you advise And compliment :) I love weight lifting. Does more for me than cardio any day!

Go and get a second and third opinion. I recently had smart lipo done on my abdomen after having 3 children. My abdomen was very similar to yours and I too was told I needed a tummy tuck. I went to 4 more doctors and they all said either smart lipo or cool sculpting was an option. Now I am 3 weeks post procedure and it looks a lot better. The skin tightening will take time I am told if it tightens at all but I am pleased with the results. Good Luck!

Thanks srowe! I'm looking into coolsculpting too for my lower abs.

You definitely don't need a tt. You look great but if you want to be flatter, look into smart lipo/lipo.

Your skin looks like it's in great condition... That being said in my opinion which isn't professional at all, I think your waist is quite narrow and smart lipo looks like it could help you out a lot.... Good luck!

By the way YOU DO NOT need a TT. Try out american lipo centers. 3200 for full abdomen. They have multiple locations. Your skin is too nice for a TT. I dont see any anyone would want to add that scar if they didn't need it

Thank you so much jersey girl. I want going to get a Tt no matter what he said lol. I like my skin too!

After babies you have muscle damage and I think to honestly accomplish the best result, TT with muscle repair would be better suited. You would hate to pay $4750 for Smart Lipo when you could have invested the rest to get the results you really want. I would definitely recommend my PS, Dr. Tattlebaum. He and his staff are awesome! Like you I work out 5-6 days a week and just couldn't get rid of the pooch either. I love my results!

Hi! Listen to JerseyGirl. I am 5'10 weigh between 150-155. I have 2 kids age 23 & 15. I am 44. Of course there is some diastasis but I have always been pretty small. I carry weight in my upper torso. I met with one Dr. In Bowie that I liked and once I expressed I am not interested in a tummy tuck he was cool saying I would probably be fine with lipo at $4550. I next met with the Dr. That did my breast aug 10 years ago in Glen Burnie. He said I would be unhappy with lipo and definitely needed a tummy tuck. I then went to American Lipo in Alexandria to consult with Dr. Segev after reading Jersey girl and one other young ladies experiences. He understood I am not looking for perfection just a smaller waist. I have stretch marks on my lower abdomen and a bit of loose skin but I am not interested in running down the beach in a two piece so I don't care about that. I want to be back at a good size 4! He said try tummy tuck, probably will have great results at flanks and upper abdomen, will be smaller in lower abdomen and we can see how much skin on lower abs shrinks. If I am dissatisfied with that area 6 months after lipo I can come back in & for $1500 have mini tt, which is just a snip of the excess skin no muscle repair for $1500. I will pay this week and have my lipo in April. Be aware that still Dr. S are in sales and have massive egos. Sometimes they can be concerned about you posting what they consider to not be perfect results like a tt and perfectionist being bothered by loose skin and considering there work not good. I have had stretch marks for more than 10 years and am not interested in trading them for they scar and I don't have the leisure of that kind of down time, so Dr. Segev will be good for me. He does a large amount of lipo as opposed to varying surgeries so he is an expert. I hope this long winded post helps. Good luck with your decision.
