Hi guys so I had my augmentation 27th September 2016 and I don’t regret it I love feeling like a woman and not a small child ! HOWEVER.... since September 2017 I have suffered so many health issues and almost died. The first thing I noticed was that I somehow got an arterial Thrombosis in my right foot (similar to a DVT) that is when the hellish journey began, two weeks later I was paralysed and in excruciating pain.. to the point the surgeon was talking about spinal surgery, I was not buying that. I had CT scans with and without contrast dye, i have had abdominal ultrasounds and been told I had a abdominal aneurism and an enlarged spleen. I had a brain MRI Spinal MRIs along with-full body bone scans including being injected with some kind of nuclear contrast dye. In the end spinal surgeon said it’s a really bad infection in your disc or schmorls nodes very hard to decipher apparently. This back issue lasted just over 8weeks. After seeing so many different specialists and having soooo many tests and procedures performed including the vascular team, spinal team cardiologists and then finally a gastroenterologist who discovered what was wrong. I had contracted streptococcus and a rare intra streptococcus in my heart which had completely destroyed my mitral valve they said they could not save it and that I needed open heart surgery immediately. Prior to having my breast augmentation i was cycling 85k a day I had energy I functioned I was reliable and have three small children. Now I am a shell of a person and only 36. Anytime I have a temp of 38 degrees they need blood cultures done. I spent three long months in hospital with hardcore antibiotics via a picc line. I was taken by ambulance again feb 2nd 2019 because of my temp being 38.9 and apparently arterial fibrillation (I thought I was having a heart attack not fun) I’ve also had two positive Rheumatoid arthritis tests which I don’t know what that means and they think I have other auto immune diseases now such as vasculitis and Polyarthralgia . I have had many vasa vagal syncope episodes leading to emergency hospital trips and scans due to the fact I’m stuck on warfarin for life . I heard about something called Breast Illness Disease and was hoping someone could shed some light on whether or not anyone else has ever suffered from health issues after a BA. Has anyone experienced anything remotely like what I have? Or does anyone have any information at all on this? As I did hear it’s not yet known if breast plant illness is a real disease?
Thankyou in advance x

Hey yep I did it one week ago. They could not get the full capsule due to it being fused to my rib cage and also he can't risk puncture of my heart and the skin is still delicate due to open heart surgery :( so I feel like it was a waste of time FML now have to wait go through bloods , pet scan someone who can check my lymph nodes this [RS bleep] won't End :(

Just read this before I commented, I’m so sorry to hear the couldn’t get the capsule out. From what I hear it’s extremely important that they remove this from your body, especially if this is the cause to your problems. So it was fused to your rib cage?? Wow. Makes you really decide guess all this. I did saline but it’s still covered in an outer shell of silicone. This is one reason why I chose saline in hopes that it would lower my chances of soemthing bad happening. Keep us updated on your health issues, I think this is an important side that is women need to know about

I has saline for 18 years (smooth fully under the muscle) for 18 years with no issues whatsoever. I choose saline because I was afraid of silicone. I just had mine taken out a week ago. I had no issues but menopause ended up being the gift that kept on giving and I ended up going to a 34 E from a 34 C (!!). It was too much of a good thing for me at 5 ft 1". I had an explant with a full lift and my surgeon expects me to be a full 34 C without the implants.

Reading of your problems breaks my heart as there has been controversy over the safety of textured implants for at least the past 20 years. Your surgeon definitely should have gone over these risks thoroughly with you prior to your surgery. I had breast augmentation 18 years ago and my surgeon was adamantly against them all those years ago.

Yep you are correct on the TGA website it states that the entire capsule needs to be removed :( My new PS did a great job and they may be small but I don't care anymore I just want to stop being sick and carry on with things. I still don't know who to trust in regards to leaving the silicone filled lymph nodes in my body .... does anyone know who to see about this? My GP said it should just leave my body naturally ?

I thought textured implants were recalled because of this? I know a certain brand of textured implants were recently recalled because it made women so sick! I would get them taken out ASAP, or at the very least start looking into this seriously. Best wishes and I hope you find some answers!

I could be wrong but I believe Inspira textured implants are the ones implicate for issues. Textured implants in general are not generally a good idea due to the risks, however small these may be. Did your surgeon not go over the risk factors of textured implants? When I got implants some 18 years ago my surgeon told me why he didn't like textured all those years ago.

Hey guys so explant has happened I'm reasonably happy with the results great shape it's just hard to mentally get my head around the fact that I was A) NEVER told about the risks of cancer by my original [RS bleep] surgeon (as it turns out he wasn't a surgeon) and B) yes Unfortunately due to my heart surgery last year and the capsule being quite fused to my ribs over my heart my new PS could or risk puncture to lung or heart and we did discuss this as one potential outcome prior to going in. I'm not sure where to go from here or what to do. I guess I'll have to just get regular checks problem is I'm only 36 and apparently they don't start even doing mammograms until over 40 :/
I also did do my due diligence research and I told the originals surgeon I wanted saline teardrop natural looking boobs he said no you don't know what you talking about this is the best one to use (textured) and it's what every one has and yeah I didn't think to question the "surgeon " and some of my mates had them and were healthy and happy so I went with what I thought was a surgeon knowing better than me ! He never ever told me there would be any risks other than capsular contracture:( I have all the notes an operative report , pathology and there is nothing in there or that I signed up for to potentially get cancer I mean who would ? :( the whole thing is [RS bleep] and I'm so drained and I am so beyond [RS bleep]  that I had to [RS bleep]  away 15k to get them back to normal. :;(

Other than that I got sized and I'm an 8C! Yewww way to go surgeon, tried on a bikini and I was a double d, shocked was an understatement I only bought the bikini because woah never though I would fit into a DD!

6 weeks today since I hit puberty at the ripe old age of 34! I think my troublesome left breast has slowly dropped a little bit more when makes me feel a lot better. Scars are healing well and are not so bumpy anymore.
Seeing my surgeon Monday so hopefully get the all clear to exercise and hit the beach!
I should probably buy a bikini that fits first!

Just wondering how it felt getting back into exercising with Kayla workouts - did you hit the ground running at 6 weeks with all the resistance and cardio or did you struggle a bit? Any pain/discomfort? Thanks so much, and your boobs look fantastic!!

Hey no I started back pretty slow to be honest mainly legs and lower body stuff but didn't push myself too hard as I was still having the odd shooting pains if I did too much! I think I tried upper body around 8 weeks post op it really just depends on how fast your body heals and your pain and discomfort levels mine were pretty reasonable it was agony the first week post off but by day 6 I was not taking any of the meds and just trying to do as my surgeon said which was "don't over do it" haha hope this helps! Have you got an op booked ? And how many weeks on Kayla are you at ? X
