Awful veneers. Huge regret.

After 7 years of research, I finally picked a “top celebrity dentist” and ceramist to get veneers on my 2 peg laterals. Up until then, I had bonding on them, which was becoming discolored and chipping. These two dentist promised me amazing results. What I got was very round and long veneers that didn’t match the rest of my smile. When I complained, they agreed to fix my 2 veneers and replace them with new ones. BIGGET REGRET EVER!!! The new veneers they put on are awful, and I cry daily about them.

The entire time they were bickering at each other and I could tell how half-assed the entire process was. The ceramist kept saying he had to leave to mail a package, and the dentist kept saying they look fine as is. Mind you, I spent $4,000 for 2 veneers!! And what I was getting was 2 dentist complaining about staying late to make my teeth look decent. Every time time I brought up an issue, they would brush it off. Like the fact that the veneer wasn’t translucent, or that my real tooth was exposed, or that they were too long. Or how they look nothing like the multiple photoshopped reference photos I sent them. The worst part of this entire process was that as the dentist was putting in my temporaries, he freaking CHIPPED MY FRONT TOOTH! When I brought it up, he tried to deny it. All I kept hearing from them was how great they are and how they have the best technology and celebrity clients.

As soon as my new veneers were put in, I got in my car and balled my eyes out. It took me 2 weeks to leave the house. It’s been a few months now and I’m sooooo insecure about these giant chicklet looking veneers. I rarely smile, and don’t like when I’m in the sunlight because you can see how fake they are. I can’t believe I spent $4,000 for 2 awful veneer that are irritating my gumline AND I have a permanently chipped front tooth.

Had I known, I could’ve just gone to Tijuana and gotten the same terrible veneers for 1/4th of the price. I’m devastated. And I have peg laterals which are already small, but they shaved them down so much, I worry that if I get new veneers, the laterals will be too small to work with and I’ll need implants. Worst decision ever. It’s sad that all those years of researching the best dentist meant getting the worst case scenario results :’( I’d like to get them shortened but I’m scared of going back to that dentist. My new dentist doesn’t feel confident to shave them down, but agrees that they were poorly done.

It would very easy to round those corners and make them look right for you. They are plenty strong when they are bonded, so reducing and reshaping them is no big thing. Actually easier to do once they ARE bonded, instead of holding them in your hand! Don’t be afraid to do this, just a little at a time!

I think they look pretty amazing and they did a great job matching color on the other teeth....I would never know they were veneers. Appreciate the work that was done because 90% of patients don't get your results....It's not a perfect science.

I agree...they don't look bad at all. I think you were expecting perfection. They look more believable because they aren't perfect.

Of my awful horse looking veneers. Just the 2 peg laterals were done. Plus my front tooth was chipped in the corner.

They look great!! Your smile is beautiful! I think maybe you just aren't used to them?
December 25, 2018
They certainly look way better than the ones I have

I want to see yours!

Agreed - the dentist should be able to bond the chip, but those all look like your natural teeth.

I think they're beyond beautiful! Maybe it'll just take some time to get use to? After all, we are our own worst critic.

It’s been over a year, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to them and the fact that my dentist chipped my front tooth.

thanks for posting; very helpful. maybe show this post to dentist and ask for fix then report back with photos?

I kind of did already. The first veneers had gaps all along the gums and were too round, so my dentist offered to give me a new set for free...and that’s when I got these. Which are just as bad and irritating my gums. And that’s also when he chipped my front tooth. I should’ve learned my lesson the first round and gone to another dentist instead of having him re-do them. :(
