I've always hated my nose, mainly because I was bullied as a child. I've gone to several consultations, however, I was never fully satisfied. Last year I decided to go to a free consulation with Dr. Marcelo Ghersi, whom I found on this website and was so pleased I did. Dr. Ghersi was able to formulate a picture on the computer of how my nose would some what look after surgery and I fell in love. I've literally read almost every rhinoplasty story on realself and the supplies I should purchase for a smooth healing process but now that my surgery is two days away and I'm feeling very anxious. Any advice?

Omg, please do not get surgery. You are gorgeous, and your nose complements your face, a smaller nose will not look proportional. I have almost no doubt you'll regret it like countless others, and this could have a devastating effect on your life. I'm a girl who would consider myself pretty attractive, just have a very slight nose bump and researched septoplasty's, the risk is just too great you won't look like yourself. Consider this, no one will ever look prettier than they nature creates them to look, a person's face aligns with their personality, with a new nose you're no longer you. And you are already beautiful, a new nose would detract from your natural beauty. Please don't, it's not too late.

Not very nice to put that kind of view/pressure on somebody who is so so close to their surgery date nonetheless on a site that caters to plastic surgery and should be as non-judgmental as possible when it comes to these things.

OP, you are beautiful as you are, but you also know yourself best and this doesn't sound like an impulse decision in the slightest. Everything will be OK.

Emavo, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion, the nice thing to do would be to say the honest thing and say/do what you think would be in someone's best interest. And the OP is beautiful, and perhaps because she has the kind of beauty that isn't the quintessential "blonde hair/blue eyes," all-American look, she thinks her look could be improved. I've seen her picture, and, in my opinion (and probably most people's), there is nothing that could be improved. I've had some vanity issues myself (small nose bump), but I've come to realize that this is part of what makes me me, and my features are proportional to my face. I don't want this girl to potentially ruin her life, surgery is largely irreversible. And sometimes people (girls especially) can be afraid of not following through with something or disappointing a doctor by cancelling a surgery, and I want to tell her, that when it comes to her health/beauty/future, there is no shame in having second thoughts and doing what you believe is best. I read her comment, saw her picture, and felt I had to say something, because I truly believe she will regret surgery, and I know how important looks are to a person's life. OP your face makes you you, in my opinion, nature gives you what's best (aka supermodels etc.), and has a wisdom that science couldn't even begin to fathom. Almost everyone is born with a deviated septum (believe it's like 80%), there are other ways to help relieve symptoms (allergy medicine etc.). Your natural beauty is perfect as it is. Please just think about this.

I am jumping in here before this conversation gets out of hand and turns into a who's right or wrong conversation. While it's RealSelf's goal to provide a safe and supportive platform for open discussion about treatments "beyond the beauty counter." going on about this in someone else's review is not the appropriate place. For further discussion of the pro's and con's of plastic surgery/rhinoplasty, one can create a forum post .

Please review the  Community Guidelines before posting any further.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to send me a private message,

Thanks!

Please just consider looking at the rhinoplasty review below, entitled "Not happy with my surgery, Miromar, FL. The girl is still beautiful, but I think she rightly has discerned that she was most beautiful with her natural nose, pre-surgery. Plastic surgeons and doctors can be very convincing, and they'll likely tell you you look great post surgery (even if that is not the case), no matter what you think. That is not to say they don't help some people, but you are an individual who, in my opinion, does not need help, and anything that is done will only detract from your beauty. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but don't let this happen to you, because there's no going back once you go through with it. I'm sorry if I seem to be going a little overboard, but I know if I was thinking of doing something like this, I'd want someone to say this to me. I have a deviated septum, and I'm still beautiful, it's a part of nature.

I had my surgery on the 22nd of March. The first day I was in a lot of pain and pressure, I slept most of the day and the second day as well. My eyes swelled up really badly. My doctor said I made him work a lot lol. I am honestly so thankful for my sisters who came to visit me and take care of me, as well as my boyfriend! I cannot wait till Wednesday to take off my cast and see somewhat of my results!
