38 Year Old 100 Lb Weight Loss Needed Tummy Tuck - Coral Gables, FL

As far back as 2003 I was 244 lbs after giving birth via csection to my first daughter. I felt bad about myself, suffered with low self esteem, and struggled with depression. I decided one day things needed to change and started making better, wiser choices for myself. I reduced my portions and changed my eating habits. I also started an exercise regimen. The more weight I lost the more motivated I became. I lost the weight little by little doing it the right way. In total it took five years to lose the weight. I got pregnant with my second child in 2009 and maintained a healthy diet and exercise regimen throughout my pregnancy and there after. What always bothered me was that I felt like a slender person trapped in a body of excess skin. I was left with loose skin on my arms, abdomen and thighs. I was frustrated that cloths did not fit me properly due to the excess skin. I am fortunate to work in healthcare particularly in surgery and I am aware of what to look for in a great surgeon. The surgeon I chose to do my tummy tuck with is Dr. Marcelo Ghersi. I worked with him in the past and have always respected his attention to detail and work ethic. He has great skill in the operating room. Plastic surgery requires art and skill which not all doctors are naturally gifted with. Dr. Ghersi is one of these skilled surgeons. It is also very important that the surgeon you chose is board certified. Dr. Ghersi's office has only board certified plastic surgeons. His staff is very attentive and supportive. Another thing I like is the one to one care provided by Dr. Ghersi. He gave me his cell phone number as well as his email address so that I may directly contact him with any concerns or questions I may have. Also, I was able to take a tour of the operating room and was given an explanation of what to expect the day of my surgery. I was very impressed that his facility is equipped with all the same equipment as a hospital. I was explained by staff that they are also accredited by the state of Florida as well as a governing committee for surgical centers and they have to abide by rules and regulations as well as inspections just like hospitals do. This was comforting because it made me feel safe.
The day of my surgery I came in and was put in a preop room. I was given a gown, special socks for my circulation, and a hat to cover my hair. The nurse was very nice an caring she introduced herself and asked me questions as well as reviewed my medical history, took my vitals and put in an IV. Dr. Ghersi came in to speak with me. He reviewed his surgical plan, marked me, and answered any questions or concerns I may have. The anestiologist was so nice and caring. She took her time with me, asked me questions, explained the anesthesia, and told me what to expect after surgery. All of the medical staff made me feel very comfortable. When it was time for surgery I walked to the operating room, I was given a warm blanket in the operating room and the staff was right by my side till I fell asleep. I woke up three hours later and my procedure was done. I remained in recover for about two hours. I was given juice and taken to the restroom and the nurse explained all discharge instructions to my husband as well as explained every medication I was prescribed.
I have had two csection as and must say that the tummy tuck was similar but a little bit more painful. I had muscle repair which makes it a bit more painful. I was very swollen the first week and then after that my swelling started to go down little by little. I had two drains which were removed after the second week. I was put in a binder after surgery which was changed into a garment after the drains were removed. I was also given one complementary session with their esthetician where they put me in a blanket of sorts which gives compression and helps with the swelling.

I am very happy with my results and would definitely recommend Dr. Marcelo Ghersi for any procedure.
