Had Co2 Laser Under Eyes and Now Hyper Pigmentation. Copenhagen

It has now been 10 weeks since my co2 laser and things are still moving very very slow. I know now that it takes time and that I need to be patience, and that I properly will love the results, when ( and if) I ever get there. But being a vain person, it's hard to not be able to look "normal" without a lot of makeup and daily being reminded of "not-so-pretty"-skin.
But the last week also brought something good: I found the foundation that works better for me and I now feel that I can go out without being embarrassed.
This week I'm giving my skin a break from the Hydroquinone just to let it recover without any chemicals and see what it will look like. I've posted 2 new pics: One without makeup (this is what I look like if I dont cover it) and one with the new foundation.

I know you don't want to hear that "it doesn't look bad," but really it doesn't. I know it's different when it's actually on YOUR face and not someone else's though. I think I can see improvement and it will only get better with time. I also had a co2 treatment under eyes on May 22 and I'm still red as well. But my redness is in a larger area than yours. Mine is almost like the shape of a Mardi Gras mask, but I'm pretty sure it will fade with time. Otherwise I think your eyes look really good with the make-up. No way would I leave the house without any, so I'm just covering my redness right now too :-). Hang in there!!!

Please use sunscreen in that area as well, especially with use of hydroquinone! Exposure to sun may cause more redness.

Are you feeling better? How does it look now?

Hello, I had CO2 laser on upper eyelids 9 days ago and my vision is still blurry. Did you have blurry vision and did it ever go away? I very much appreciate any insight, thanks!

It is now eight weeks since I got my ??upper and lower eyelids + CO2 laser . Since then I have been troubled by all the side effects one can imagine. :( ( Or so it feels )
As described above , I have hyperpigmentation despite the fact that all regulations are complied with. The last 2 weeks I have tried with some ointment from the doctor without success, so today after another check up, I got an extra cream that I must start using every morning along with the other. Hydro-something 4 % ??
I still have big dark patches under the eyes and can not see a noticeable change , so the mood is still not great . My doctor said , however, that he thought he could see a difference .... but I'm not seeing it. :(
Besides the dark blotches , I have also today received treatment for scar tissue , which have come under my eye in connection with the operation or the huge swelling as I experienced afterwards.
He injected corticosteroids under my eye. YARK, that hurt and I am now again swollen and blue. Only good thing is that it takes the eye of the hyper pigmentation... ;) ;) ;) ;)
So here we go again ... But I return with a new update next week and hope that it will be more positive . It can almost only go forward ;)

Hang in there, Tina. I had CO2 laser under my eyes one year ago. Finally my skin is not red anymore. Very happy with the final outcome. Wish you well.

Tinapm68, I feel your pain. I had co2 :-/ Under my eyes 2 days ago, and I tried to tell the PS that there was still a small amount of restylane under both eyes but he said if it's been 2 years it should all be dissolved. Now I'm 2 days out and I knew there would be swelling and redness, but most of the swelling is exactly where the restylane was left over!! Oh the things we do :-) Hang in there!! It will get better with time. Just try to maintain a positive outlook :-) Best wishes and Happy Memorial Day!!

Hi Tabithanash, Best to u too.Hope you'll get through it without complications. The best things I can say about my state right now is that the skin is very soft under my eye and my lines and wrinkles are gone. But with the redness it's still not optimal and it's not fading yet. Let me know how you are doing and if you have any good tips ;) They er in high demands these days ;) ;) ;) Lots of good wishes your way !!

Hi Tinapm68, I'm now 5 days out from the co2 and I am pretty sure I'm going to love it!! It's still red, a tad swollen and a little bit bruised, but for only 5 days, I think the doctor did a great job!! The wrinkled skin is now tight!! And I can cover the redness, so I'm really liking it so far!! As for tips, have you tried the bleaching cream?? Or Retin A? And of course always wear sunscreen!! Always!! Keep us posted on how you are doing :-) The redness WILL get better, it just takes time :-)

Did the co2 laser outcome get affected by the restylane?
May 27, 2015
Hydroquinone 4%. Powerful and it works, but you'll need to wear strong sunscreen during the daytime. You could put the H-cream on at night, and use very strong sunscreen over the areas in the a.m. Best of luck. (CO2 laser can have difficult outcomes, but you'll conquer whatever comes your way!)

Hi Manque. Just started to use Hydroquinone last week and I hope that will do the trick. But do you know ( or anybody else ) if the Hydroquinone works against redness ?? I thought it was for for the dark spots that comes with hyper pigmentation and not the redness. ? Right now I'm willing to try anything, so will keep using it. Anybody who knows how long before I can expect to see a change ?
May 27, 2015
Hey Tina, the redness comes and goes even after nearly one year ago of CO2 laser. I use very sparingly 1% hydrocortisone from Aveeno. It really helps to control the redness. Do not use it daily though, it makes your skin thinner. Still very happy with the results, the recovery and skin changes that you have to deal with are major, but oh so worth it.

Hydroquinone not usually for redness per se, however it may prevent the red areas from turning brown, due to something called "post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation. Be sure to use strong sunscreen OVER the areas you use Hydroquinone on, as treated areas may be MORE susceptible to further reaction to sun's rays. It can be weeks or months before the hyper pigmentation is noticeably reduced. Use concealer with a strong SPF.

Hydroquinone, 4 percent.

I had the same problem after I did mine ! The Dr did many IPL and that helped a bit but it took almost a year to be normal

. I too had co2 laser (not fract) under my eyes and this weekend, i'm 6,5 weeks out and I look like *'#%*.. :( I have massive redness and now hyper pigmentation and I'm scared that I will never look normal again. I try to cover it up during the day, but I can't hide it and after a few hours, the makeup will look "cracked up" and my skin is itching and burning.
I hope to hear from others who battled this and maybe won ??
I can not recommend this to anyone. It took more than 2 weeks to heal, I was swollen beyond your wildest imagination and I'm left with this.

I don't know if you've been out in the sun but don't go there. Color will be permanent! Stay away from the outdoors. Just because you wear a hat, there are different types of rays that still get to your face of which you are not aware and the hat won't prevent this type of discoloration. Thanks for sharing and God Bless.

I kinda have to go out, but I'm very carefully and always wears SPF 50+ and hat, and I try not to stay to much in the sun. I've stopped the sunbathing a long time ago, when I saw what it could do to your skin. I've also had skincancer on my nose, so trust me, when I say, that I take care. But thank you for your kind thoughts. Have you had any laser done ?

give it time it will heal ...this skin is the most sensitive of the face .It is only two months ...it will be 6 months before it is back to normal again , and even then it will still be sensitive . What is important now is what creams you are putting on the treated area . That will determine a lot how comfortable you will be and how quickly the skin heals. Remember as well some people heal better than others , drink plenty of h20 ...scar therapy cream will help at night too.

Hi Saskiag, thanks for uplifting words and hope.....Have you done anything like this ?? I'm very carefully with my creams and sun lotion. I've only used the ones the Doctor recommend ( and sold )I keep it moist and I never leave the house without sunscreen and a hat and sunglasses. I kind a look like bankrobber from time to time ;)

It will be a while , yes I have had this sort of treatment . When the time is over and it looks better you will be amazed at the difference . Especially if you have some real close up pics of the "before " wrinkles ...dont be discouraged , its counter productive to good healing . best wishes . keep using that greasy sticky scar therapy cream its awful , but works . Wear a big brim hat always , big ugly half of yr face sunglasses ....pack on clinique 50 plus mask concealer and you'll be right ....

Sorry to hear this. What does your doc say about how you are at 2 months post? Does he/she say this is to be expected and that it will go away, or is he shocked by the condition of your skin?
May 11, 2015
My doc says it will fade and that it isn't normal to look like this ( lot of comfort that gave me ;) ) I've started to use something to bleach it and have done so for a week now, still no change at all. I'm going for another check up next week and hope that he will come up with a plan.
May 11, 2015
What bleach/lightening product are you using (brand and strength)?
May 15, 2015
I'm not sure what the name is. My doctor gave it to me ( free of charge, but without label ) It is some sort of hydroquinone. Kind of watery and I need to dab/put it on every night. It is supposed to leave the skin kind of dry, he said, so important to moist, but my skin isn't dry or flaky at all ?

Not sure what you have tried in the way of concealers, but I love glo minerals camouflage. My color is Natural but they also have Beige, which strangely seems lighter than Natural. A little bit goes a LONG way!!! Hope this helps until things calm down :-)
