I've held off writing a review because I'm so...

I've held off writing a review because I'm so afraid that someone I know will stumble upon it and identify me. Cosmetic surgery is frowned upon in my social circle. I know that I would forever be "the one who got a tummy tuck", who is vain and selfish. I say, if your car got beat up or a tree branch dented your house, you'd get that repaired, right? Well, childbearing does damage to a mother's body, why not get it repaired? I feel bad misleading people that "Yes, you can get this body with just diet and exercise!" but I don't want people whispering behind my back, "Oh, she's only thin because she had surgery.". No, I'm thin because I worked my tuckus off! Unfortunately, I couldn't work off my excess skin or fix my diastasis.
I'm 45 and the mom of eight children. After my last baby I had some prolapse issues, so I decided to have a hysterectomy. That seemed like a good time to have a tummy tuck, too! So I had two big surgeries at once, in order to have one recovery. It was a good idea and I don't regret it, but that one recovery was ROUGH. My one night hospital stay turned into three nights, I lost a lot of blood and I developed a hematoma. It took the full six weeks before I was feeling semi-normal but then things kept getting better.
Because of the rough recovery, I didn't take any pictures until 11 weeks. It took that long for the hematoma to go away. My surgeon liposuctioned it out in his office. He said that otherwise, it would have taken months to resolve. Now there's no sign that it ever happened!

Weight Loss at Four Months Post-Op

After the tummy tuck I lost six pounds without trying. I'm not saying that was a good thing. I was already 5'4" and 116 when I had the surgery. Within two months I was down to 110. I think that part of it was the rough recovery. For the first two weeks I barely felt like eating anything. Then one's metabolism cranks up during the healing process. I even considered whether I might have developed an eating disorder, but I haven't. It's just normal to go through a phase of being a bit obsessed about your body after surgery like this. That total obsession ended around three to four months post-op. These pictures were taken at the four month mark... about five weeks after the first set of photos.

New Clothes and Vacation!

My youngest child is 18 months old and since his birth I have lost 40 pounds. I had to work very hard to get back into my beloved size 4 jeans! Now I am shocked... shocked!... that I wear a size 0. Is that even a thing?? The first time I tried on size 0 jeans I had to take a picture to send to my husband! But to be fair, I'm a modern size 0. Ten years ago that would have been called a 2. Vanity sizing is real, y'all.

The "downside" to this surgery is needing to buy all new clothes. But man, oh man, is that a fun problem to have! It's so nice to go into any store and know that most anything will look nice. No more "Will this hide my tummy? Will I look pregnant in this?". When my husband and I went on a tropical vacation I even bought my very first bikini! Okay, it's a skirted bikini but still, my midriff is bare! I just have NO backside, so I try to hide it.
