I start my 6 month program in December with my first dietician visit. I have to say, I am somewhat apprehensive, but I can be a very determined person, so here's hoping I can prove it! lol! I have PCOS and insulin resistance at 29 years old, and come from a long line of diabetes and hypertension! As a healthcare worker, I see the toll diabetes can take on a person, and I'm certain I don't want to live that way. On the human side of things, I recently became engaged, and am hoping I can make myself successful with this procedure and look great in my wedding pictures! I would love to be able to look back and see myself in my wedding dress and think "I looked beautiful that day".

Good for you. It's a life changing procedure, but all for the good as far as I'm concerned. I've lost 109 lbs since last Dec and feel great. Good luck to you.

I have severe pcos and have been on steroid injections for 13 years to control it... I just turned 27. I had the sleeve and it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. in 8 months I am down 140 lbs and still dropping. Im no longer considered morbidly obese or even just obese. I am over weight.... Use to that would of bothered me but after being at my highest That is something I can live with. My cycles since surgery has been amazing. I use to bleed 4 months on 2 months off. Never missed a day of heavy bleeding to the point of ever 45 minutes I was about to bleed through. 8 weeks after surgery I had my first cycle it was 15 days.... every cycle since then has only been 6 days and I can use regular vs super heavy plus!!!!!! The sleeve has changed my life!!!!!

Very good! I don't have the bleeding problem, but I was gaining quite a bit of weight. Metformin and watching carbs has stop the gaining, but I am not losing anything anymore. (I was gaining 5-10 pounds a month after the birth of my son)

This surgery has transformed my entire life. I am thankful for it. I had to pay out of pocket 100% and would do it 1000 more timesof needed. Good luck!!

KKaremy, the six month program is an insurance requirement to get the surgery approved. The hospital program I am going through requires a patient to attend monthly meetings with dieticians for 3 months and have a psych evaluation, however, my insurance requires me to go for 6 months. In that time, you learn how surgery will affect your body, the do's and don'ts of eating right, etc. So far, this month I have a group dietary meeting and a meeting with the surgeon for a history and physical. Had labs done last week. So, now we just see what happens next after these two appointments
