Reconstruction Try 2
I learned that my body makes very thick scar tissue. After bending 2-3 needles during numbing and the suture needle, I have a large nipple on my right and a smaller areola on my left. The nipple will shrink. I went today for a check and it has a blood supply. Once we see how it turns out, we'll look at skin grafting or tattooing for my areola. I forgot to take a pic before of the situation but here's how they look today. I go back Thursday just to keep close tabs on them. They're not that bruised--I still have iodine on since I can't shower until Thursday, and we didn't want to mess with it too much. I also have lovely lines from my sports bra.
1 year
We celebrated a year this week! I go Monday to try and make a nipple again. If it doesn't take, I'm going to have it tattooed and be done with it. It hasn't always been easy, and I have days where I still get emotional about my nipple but the freedom they've given me can't be replaced. I'm glad I took the plunge.
Here we go again...
So after a couple of days the bleeding quit when I would change the bandages. There was a small bit of dark colored matter at the tip, but it was still big so I was calm. The dark part fell off and I had the most darling nipple. This morning I noticed a small piece was bleeding and coming loose. I bandaged it and worries all day beaguse my perfect nipple was going to be bumpy looking. Curiosity got the better of me, so I checked again tonight. I feel like it's now non-existent. The bandage does flatten things and give a weird texture but I feel like it's still gone. I guess I'll know for sure when I shower tomorrow. I added pictures but it's hard to capture with all the redness and texture.
