One Week Post-Op
It has now been one week since I had my surgery. I am very happy with how the girls are looking! They are shaped well, full, vulutptous and everything I hoped for!
I can tell I still have some swelling. I am completely off of Percocet as well as Tylenol. However, I did request a muscle relaxer for my muscle spasm in my back. I called once and Dr. Treece wanted me to try ice/heat and Advil. It just wasn't working, so I called the office back and they immediately called in a prescription for a muscle relaxer. I was so happy I didn't have to go back to their office for a visit.
I immediately began taking the muscle relaxer (Flexiril) and it does help. I believe the pain is related to having to sleep on my back. I am NOT a back sleeper and having to stay in one position is very hard for me. It also may be due to just trauma from the surgery. Hubby is faithful to massage my back as needed and I usually fall asleep on my heating pad every night.
I am still wearing my compression garment and band, of course. I can't say it's the most comfy stuff to wear but I am careful to follow Dr's orders.
The steri-strips and stitches are itching and at times that is bothersome. No biggie though!
I have one tennie-tiny little bruise on my left breast near the incision site but that is all. I had no bruising other than that. :)
My right nipple is SUPER sensitive. It isn't painful but it is bothersome. I have also experienced a little bit of pins and needles sensations throughout this past week. Nothing to worry about but trying to report everything so that women know what to expect.
The biggest problem fir me by far has been my abdominal bloating. I had to buy a laxative and it helped some but I still look bloated. I am going to be honest here and say that I am very discouraged about it. I had worked so hard to lose belly fat and now it "looks" like I hadn't lost any weight at all.
I am trying not to worry about it and not let it consume me. I have upped my veggie and fruit intake to help as well. I have read that the effects of anesthesia can last awhile, so that may be part of it too.
Overall, I am feeling great. :) Just some minor post-op issues to deal with.
I also want to say quickly, that it is actually harder than I thought to not raise my arms above my head, lol.
One more thing: due to me having to take a muscle relaxer for my back spasms, I am still not driving. We have 4 kiddos so hubby took 2 weeks off work to ensure a healthy recovery for me. So far not being able to drive hasn't been an issue for me.
I am hoping I can be cleared to sleep on my side at least a little bit at my 2 week
post-op visit as I think it will really help my back to not become so stiff and tight.
Looking forward to my post-op visit and hearing Dr.Treece's thoughts on how I look. :)

Decided to give the girls some much needed love....
Decided to give the girls some much needed love. Hubby was all for it and we agreed to make it happen ASAP. We met with the team at CAPS and I knew I wanted Dr. Treece as my surgeon. He was smart, witty and quick on his feet. He didn't waste any time laying out a plan. He listened to every question we had. I enjoyed his humor and the office is not only gorgeous archeticually but kept immaculately clean and pristine. I would say that most of the people that work there have had some sort of plastic surgery. That's an assumption though. All of the staff are beautiful and no one looks fake. Just happy, healthy and vibrant looking.
Initially, we decided on 500cc high profile silicone placed under the muscle. I am 5'9 and 140lbs. However, later I called his office back and decided to go with as big as my chest/skin could handle which is 550cc.
Some things to note BEFORE surgery:
1. Have a loose idea of sizing. Rid yourself of thinking in terms of cup sizes. I don't mind having big boobs but some women prefer to be more modest: do not expect to go with 575cc if you don't want attention, lol. Be realistic. Think in terms of your lifestyle. I love to exercise so I needed to talk to my surgeon about that too.
2. Be prepared for lab work as well as having to schedule a physical with your PCP to be cleared for surgery. My surgeon required both. This is for your safety. I was happy to oblige.
3. Remember to thoroughly read through the list of medications to stop. Some meds such as NSAIDS (Advil), need to be stopped up to 2 weeks prior to surgery. If you have a headache or backache, that means no quick Advil-popping. Tylenol only! I suffer from migraines and am currently on Relpax to take as needed. I tried not to take it prior to my BA (as I am stickler for safety) but I had to. There were no complications from doing so. I also take numerous vitamins and Valerian root tea at bedtime. I quit taking them all 10 days prior to surgery. I did feel lethargic from not taking my vitamins but I just wanted to be really careful.
4. Line up lots of care for yourself and children. Don't assume everything will be [RS bleep]-dorie post-op. Better to be prepared than to be caught off guard. Even after all of my carefulness, I still ended up vomiting some due to anesthesia. And believe me when I say it hurt!!!!
Day of Surgery:
Expect to feel lots of nerves, doubt, anticipation. The nurses at Riverside were amazing! So fun and positive and encouraging. I needed that livliness as I was internally second-guessing if surgery was the best option. They made me feel warm, safe and very well cared for.
The anesthesiologist was fun and quick. Not a time-waster. I think they knew I was all business and didn't want be caudled--I was ready to go on and have my beautiful girls! :) He offered me a cocktail before taking me to the OR. It was a form if valium and I am so glad I agreed to it. From that point on, my memories get fuzzy but I do remember the OR being very, very cold.
Interestingly enough, I never actually saw Dr. Treece that day. He came in after I had my cocktail and drew his roadmap on my chest. By then though, I was out!!!!
Post-Op
I am 2 days Post-op and am still significant pain. I am having to take my Percocet every 5-6hours. I could supplement with extra strength Tylenol but I just haven't.
Some surprises to me are:
1/ I am very bloated and look like I am pregnant in my abdominal area. This is taking away the shock factor of having huge boobs bc I look 4 to 5 months pregnant. :( Hubby is being very supportive and encouraging. But I didn't expect to have so much bloating.
2/ Pretty severe muscle spasm in back. This has made it next to impossible to get any rest. Not only is it painful but the darn thing won't go away. Walking seems to help so I get up out of bed and walk around the house. Walking feels pretty good actually but because of the pain meds, I am woozy. I just take it slow and easy.
3/. It hurts to breathe. This, like the bloating thing, was unexpected for me. I can not take full, deep breaths. It just hurts too much. My nurse told me that this is totally normal and to only worry if it feels like my throat is being constricted.
I am only 2 days post-op so I haven't even really looked st my boobs to be honest. I wouldn't say that what I am going through is pain--but it is very uncomfortable and unsettling.
At this point, my boobs feel hard as rocks and look like giant torpedoes.
I am going to shower today so that's exciting! I am nervous about showering but hubby is a terrific caregiver.
I don't know if anyone is reading my story bc there are so many others out there but I hope I will be able to offer some new perspective as my symptoms don't seem to be the norm with what I had read on this site, haha.
Big question: at the start of day 3, would I do it over again? The answer is a resounding YESSSSSS!!!!!!
I would like to post some pics and video. I hope to do that today. But for now, this will hopefully be enough info for someone to think about.
