Laser with caution!

I am updating to urge members to laser with caution. My acne scarring dramatically improved from laser treatment (not this specific laser but the one I had done prior); my friends and family saw a noticeable change. I do want to warn others, however, that I did have negative side effects that I have been correcting over the past year... The worst side effect was substantial fat loss after my intense Matrix CO2 laser treatment in the worst/deepest areas of my scarring. I couldn't tell what had changed in my face after the laser treatment but I felt less confident in some ways... I gradually realized (only after really examining my face) that the loss of volume in my face was fairly drastic. I have had to fill in these atrophied areas with voluma (a facial filler) to regain volume in my face as it never returned when I gained back weight I had lost from stress.
If I were able to go back, I might have tried other methods before hopping into laser treatment. I really encourage others to look into subcision and fat transfer as potential options before trying laser...
While I am still happy with my improved scarring, it has been a long road!! I am going to change my review to "not sure" instead of worth it as others have experienced the same side effects as I have and they greatly regret their procedures. Please know that there are treatments to improve laser damage but they can be expensive. Good luck!!

do you think the Halo laser has a negative effect on facial volume as well?

Possibly a little bit I had so little volume at that point that it's hard to tell.

Do you have any photos of before laser treatments versus after that show the fat loss? (I think the above photo is how you looked after fillers, correct?) I think I may also have drastic fat loss as a result of laser treatments and it's really bummed me out :(

I do... I'll see if I can personally message you one. And yes, those are my treatment day photos for fillers (before and after). :( I'm sorry you had a similar result. I am very happy with my fillers but regret the lasers on occasion. :(

Hello! Thank you for that bit on the fat loss- I have had two laserists/aestheticians that they would much rather do CO2 laser than micro needling on me, but the fat loss is something I'm really, really worried about. Though microneedling is much slower, the side effects are much less significant or risky (if done properly, i would assume), plus, rather than thinning the skin, it apparently helps to thicken it. Way cheaper, too. I say give microneedling a go- my first round of 3 really helped, and now I'm on my second round of three :) Best of luck to you- and btw, you have some really huge, beautiful eyes!

I'm very interested in try microneedling! After my pregnancy is over, I'm planning g on trying it out! And thank you for the compliment on my eyes. That's very sweet if you to say!!

Why would you change to "not sure" if there treatment that caused the fat loss was a Matrix CO2 laser and not the Halo? It sounds like 15% wasn't deep enough. The clinic where I went said that they rarely do 15%, because she considers it a waste of my money- that it's too shallow to improve acne scarring- we did 30% and it has soooo improved my scars.

I'm glad it worked for you but lasers can cause fat loss. I think it's important that people know that before committing to any laser treatment. Always good to hear success stories though!

Over all would you say halo is not worth it? Or that the co2 was the one that caused fat loss??

The CO2 was way worse. I only had a super light halo session so it's hard to say what a more aggressive treatment might do. The Halo didn't seem to do much for me.... Could have caused slight volume loss but it's hard to say!

Not much of a difference at all with scar depth. My skin is a lot lighter and smoother overall though!

I can see a definite difference in the overall color evenness! Looks good! I have some deeper acne scars on my temples and my doctor hit those pretty hard w the halo but in only on day two so we'll see how it turns out.. He did mention trying fillers if it didnt improve the depth, which I'll look into eventually if need be.. They'd probably help your skin too? And he mentioned a needle treatment to basically regrow the skin too? Idk but thanks for such a thorough review!!

Sounds like a good plan! I am looking into microneedling and get grafting now. How are your results with halo now? :)

Did you have a second treatment?
M

No, I'm looking into different treatment options like microneedling and get transfer.

I haven't seen any improvement with scar depth which I expected since this was a light treatment. I am wearing makeup because it is harder to see my scar depth without it. I am hoping to have another treatment done in late December. If I do, it will be a much deeper treatment so I should see improvement on scar depth afterwards.

My skin's color has continued to be much calmer color-wise! I feel like this treatment corrected the rough texture and redness I was left with after my matrix CO2 procedures the year prior.
