Fit Body but Eyes Look Tired/worn - Colorado Springs, CO

Update.....15 months later

WORTH IT$6,000
Would just like to say....it's been quite the roller coaster ride, because of MY Unique circumstances-(see original post, if needed), but I am so happy I went thru all of this. Yes, it was a long haul, and I had some other hurdles to deal with vs. the average blepharoplasty, but overall, I am pleased. I am Still, 15 months later-(from last/final procedure), seeing improvements around my eyes, skin. That may sound strange to some, but my body is still healing on the "inside" and every so often, I see more, small, subtle changes. I am so grateful to my oculofacial surgeon. Kudos to him and my dermatologist, for sticking with me, teaching me patience, etc....good luck to all, this is not the easiest procedure, but it can be worth it, no matter your circumstance.

I had upper eyelid surgery .. and the first two month i looked like a ghost . we said to only take away minimal skin , just so i could see some of my eyelids again .. and thinly inner corners where so crazy high that the flesh on the outside hang .. so i looked like a puppy .. then the 4th and 5th month my eyes got better and better actually at the end as i wanted it .. and now all the sudden they changed back and the skin in the inner eye is so high... its so frustrating .. but your mail gives me hope...
Yes, patience... Its been a little over two years & yes, it took that long for me, but as my original post states , I had other issues prior. So I took a bit longer than the norm, also I'm a huge bruiser !!! As I've said before , I still notice little subtle changes every so often....even after 2 years!
I had a long haul...3 procedures for this , plus prior to Blepharoplasty I had a skin biopsy & glaucoma laser surgery...so altogether I had 5 procedures in less than a year!!!
Wow, imagine the stress my skin & eyes were under!
I'm still, to this day , grateful for my doctors & God....I've been very lucky & hope others have a good experience, w/o complications.
I hope my story helps someone who may have had extenuating circumstances ..make sure you have a doctor you trust..& can communicate with!!!..good luck & smiles to all.

Fit body/but eyes look tired/worn

A full year has passed since my final procedure ( 3 of 3) has been performed. I'm finally able to see results & feel good about fixing my "nightmare"( see original post from last year for details). I am so thankful to my surgeon for his patience, knowledge, expertise & caring. It truly does take patience & time & when you have extra issues along w normal eyelid surgery, it takes a toll. The tissues & skin are constantly healing , up to a year , just as they say. I totally recommend my oculofacial surgeon. I wish everyone luck w their procedures.

ORIGINAL POST

I've been into fitness for years & try to stay healthy. My body is pretty "fit" & I get compliments all the time on "what great shape" I'm in...I'm 53...had heavy upper lids for years but became worse over past 2/3 years. "Borderline" regarding being medically covered but paid on my own. The lower area has had dark skin/circles for years which also became worse over time. I also had tried laser to help w darkened areas but I had a Very Bad experience.i won't go into details at Moment but it damaged my skin under eyes & ruined what little laxity I had...(dont ever do laser w sensitive skin or when older)!!! at My age you need all u can get ! Sooo....I decided to just get both upper & lower done. After much research, recommendations, Etc...I decided on Dr Ron Pelton. He made the decision , tho , to do 2 separate procedures due to my bad laser experience & the need for my skin as well as my emotions to heal. Had upper bleph w browpexy & lower bleph w skin pinch & some bags removed & some repositioned.... I had my uppers done mid June & I love that I can see my eyelids & my eyes!!!! Also, a big plus was that I had a constant dull pressure headache between my eyebrows on my forehead for years --I noticed right away--it's Gone!!!! What a wonderful extra!!! Anyway, will post pics once i can figure out...but I was one of the few who is a "bruiser"...therefore I bruised from top to bottom just from upper bleph & the lower wasn't as much but it was "black"!!!' I had lowers done August 12th...sadly. I need slight revision due to some excess skin in corners that somewhat give me a "sad" look vs bags! I love that the bags are gone but frustrated I have to have more skin pinched/cut in corners. Doctor assures me it's less invasive & similar to removing a wart...but I'm a bruiser & hate to have to "heal again"...this has been an emotional roller coaster...as I'm emotionally drained & want to be back to "normal "..like everyone!! My revision is sept 30th...so scared....even tho it's not a major procedure ....just want to be done & look like the "fit happy person" that's inside waiting to come out!!!!

Hi there. I had an upper and lower bleph in May 2013. The best advice I was given, and I will pass along to you, is to be patient. I was not 'presentable' for almost 2 months. All the research I had done led me to believe I would be out and about in 7-10 days. Not even close. I hope you are feeling well. :-) I just got done having a full facial CO2 laser resurfacing treatment. (9-9-14) Now, THAT, was not fun. The bleph hurt less, but took a lot longer to heal. I too bruise easily. Take care
Thanks....doing ok...frustrated some days! This site has helped me a lot...hope I can help someone else...:)
Does anyone know how to delete photos?! I've tried clicking on edit, remove & it asks it I am sure to delete but nothing happens??!!! Trying to delete & add other pics??!!
You can't delete photos... They don't allow u to delete. You can edit them tho.
Well hmmm when I emailed they said I could....but instructions don't work !
I couldn't delete either - I didn't think they allowed to delete. But if they told u you could delete, I would ask them to delete the pics.
Oh I see where u got the delete to work! Ignore my previous comment.
I actually had to have them delete for me....I will post other pics as soon as my excess skin is removed & I heal from that. Hope it helps....everything else looks good, just extra saggy skin that I thought would be removed is still making me look droopy....I don't quite understand it all?
What kind of laser did you have done under your eyes? I was thinking of getting an ablative erbium laser under my eyes? Just curious what you had done? I wish you the best with your revision and hope you feel better soon! Thanks!
I only had one treatment & it was a disaster...I had 2 used, but I have mentally blocked out type at moment ..it was a bad experience & took me months to get my skin back...now w Lower bleph my skin is traumatized again...not as bad but it doesn't like to be disturbed I'm guessing --lol---when I recall the laser I will tell u...it was just a bad bad thing .... Bleph procedures help "some" but I will forever have the effects from it....good luck to u....lasers either help, make things worse or do nothing...I think it's just a matter of luck & skin health/texture.....
Thanks for your reply! Again I wish you the best with your revision and hope you are feeling "normal" again soon!
Wow sounds like a true emotional rollercoaster- I'm glad all the surgeries are done now and that you are happy.
I still need revision , (a bit of extra skin), but all is good....no major problems just slower healing than I than I hoped but everyone has said it's not as quick as you are led to believe. I was able to resume exercise after 1st week & took walks until I could go to class....the frustrating part is having to ice & warm compress so much especially when you're a bruiser like me....I'm 3 mos post op for the upper bleph & 6 weeks post op lowers... Long haul for sure!!!
Oh I must have misread your review, I thought you already had the revision.  The healing definitely takes longer than you would assume or expect, I think the mental part is the hardest.  When is your revision?
Next week...I will be 7 weeks post op on lower...extra skin in corners ...doc said its similar to removing a wart!! Lol...we will see...I doubt it's that easy! :)
Let us know how it goes!  Hopefully it isn't bad relative to the previous surgeries.
