I Put This off Way Too Long...33 Years Old - Colorado Springs, CO
ORIGINAL POST
So, I've always whined about my boobs being too...
$5,700
So, I've always whined about my boobs being too small. My husband of 16 years started out saying, you look perfect, but after many years told me if I really wanted, I should get a boob job. He loves me as is, which is great, but this is just for me. I absolutely hate how small I am. I've bought clothes, that just sit in my closet because I don't fill out the top. I'm 5'2 125lbs. I have a waist, and great hips and a booty...but no matching boobs.
I've had my consult, and really connected with the surgeon and his office staff, so I cancelled the second consult. My doctor doesn't pick size for you, he gives his opinion and your minimum and maximum but leaves the decision to you. He picked 375cc and they gave me a bra to put on, and once the sizers were in they clip the back of the bra to tighten it all up. At first I was quite shocked when I looked in the mirror, they seemed huge! My husband immediately they were perfect. I put a shirt on, and saw how great that looked and actually got excited. We tried the next size up, and the size down from there also. The 415, while not much bigger seemed ginormous and the 310 were just too tiny. We also decided on Mod+ because I have a wider chest and he wants to fill IN more than UP. While I've seen some HPs that look beautiful, it's just not what I want.
We got to play with the actual implants as well. My surgeon uses mostly Sientra textured, and I was amazed at how they feel. They're squishy, but have substance to them, unlike the saline, which we did not like at all.
My doc thinks I should do overs, since I have breast tissue to cover, and I do arm work everyday for Physical Therapy. I'm still a little iffy with that, I want that natural slope and lower pole fullness. I'll be having one more visit before my actual pre-op in September, and I'll talk with him again.
I've been reading reviews on this site for a couple weeks now, so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. Obviously, we never really know how recovery will be, but I'm optimistic. I do hate pain meds though, and never take full doses. I'm one of those people that pass out for 12 hours just from a Benadryl, so Norco, Vicodin and Percocet kick my butt. I live in Colorado, and while I haven't had pot in 16 years, I have thought about asking my PS about medical marijuana instead of narcotics. We'll see though.
I'm sure I'll be pretty chatty leading up to my actual surgery, which I scheduled for my kids Fall Break from school. I will post photos of myself...I just don't have any yet...here are some of my wish pics.

I told my PS I had used some cannabis salve on my hypersensitive nipples and he was skeptical LOL. i wanted to say "dude whatever helps!" I reread this post and had missed that you went with textured. So I think we went with the same size and type. You had a lot more to start with though and are lucky to be able to go with overs! Mine are taking a while to soften. I wonder if softening happens more quickly with overs. You'll have to post on that as you get further along.

My sister got some of that salve from a friend, and loves it for her back. I never thought to get some for sensitively nipples!
I'm really happy with my overs, they're not soft exactly, but softer than that first week of rock hard boobs. I'm definetely going to keep updating, not many of us overs on here. :)

Another CO mom on RS posted that the cannabis salve helped reduce morning boob for her. I believe it completely. I do think you have to apply it regularly and often. I was slow to act on this just as I was with the nipple covers but would tell all women on here who live in CA, WA and CO that they should give the salve a shot. It just took the edge off for me immediately. It wasn't a silver bullet but It helped and I'm not crazy haha. I researched the salve as much as i could and from everything I read it does not get into the blood stream so theoretically no THC in the blood (transdermal cannabis patches are a different matter).

That's good to know, about in the blood, hubby is military. We haven't taken any chances with pot in the house.

Running with boobs?
So, in high school I loved running, after kids and a constantly deployed husband, who has time for running? Well, recently I have forced myself back on the treadmill. Every morning, 2 miles is what I'm at right now, hoping to get up to at least 3 miles a day in the next couple weeks.
As many of you know, running with small boobs causes zero issues. I put on a sports bra, look practically boobless, and they don't move during the run. Thank goodness I have a treadmill in my garage. I want to get back to running as quickly as possible after surgery. The cool thing is my PS's wife is a physical therapist and can write me up a plan to get back into my physical therapy and running.
What I need help with is sports bras, real ones for exercise, not just comfy lie around ones. I'm sure I can ask my surgeon in September, but I'm a planner and would love to have an idea of what I'm looking for. Comfy suggestions are welcome too, but full support is a I've concern.
I need a countdown app!

I got the same size that you are getting (except I was talked into hps) and I'm curious about what it's like to run after too! But im only a little over a week post op so haven't been cleared for exercise yet.

I imagine it'll be a big shock, to run with boobs. Lol.
At one of our previous bases, my friends daughter had D's, and she would wear a regular bra and a full support sports bra over that, anytime she had PE. That was in Arkansas, where it's crazy humid, and I'm sure all those layers were torture. At 16, you couldn't really give her other options, she was pretty set in her ways. But I'm sure, as an adult, I can buy a really good full support sports bra. The Lulumon Tata tamer looks like a great option, for now.

I had a BA in April and recently resumed running. I tried on a bunch of different styles but I do love the Juno bra from Brooks. They carry them at Athleta. The great thing about Athleta is that they have a 100% return policy and even encourage you to workout in their products. If you don't like it you can return it for a full refund- even after wearing it. Find something with great support as well as comfort!

Following...can't wait to seevwhat the return to running plan is like! Thank you for your posts...ill continue reading;)

Email updates
I swear, the only time I start to get nervous is when I get my RealSelf email, and there are explant reviews. I always click them, read the whole thing, and then start to question myself.
Two things I remind myself of, I'm going with a smaller size, because I don't want to be self conscious, or uncomfortable and hindered in my daily life. Also, I have noticed a lot of the explants are saline, and the new silicone is quite safe.
Still, I get a little anxiety every time, and of course if you read one, there's a whole list at the bottom...the rabbit hole is real, and you can get lost reading negative reviews.

I found myself doing the same before and after my surgery (TT, BL/BA). Sometimes it's best to just search by your own questions and let the other stuff fall by the way side. Remind yourself that no surgeon is God and results will never be perfect. However, even with common risks, we will feel better about ourselves and our decision overall for going through with it. Only thing preop you should really concern yourself with is researching doctors, making sure you've picked the best possible available to you, allow them to gain your trust by answering all of your concerns, and everything else will just fall into place.
Best of luck to you!
Best of luck to you!

Thanks :)
My husband told me to just stop reading anything with a negative twist. Sometimes I can't help it really, morbid curiosity, but I always regret it. I've been deleting my RS emails without checking them. I mean, I'm on the site randomly all day long, so it's not like I'm missing anything.

Ok I just did that. I have a week and 6 days till my BA and I'm not gonna lie, my anxiety just kicked in. I can't read anymore explant reviews. Or reasons why. OMG totally freaked me out. Lol

October 21, 2016
I had to turn off all the email notifications, and really only read "worth it" reviews.

October 21, 2016
I think they do that on purpose just to make sure you're well informed, because once I was about 2 weeks prior to my surgery those were all that popped up on my feed as well. Freaked me the heck out. I stopped reading them too.

Im debating about implants after seeing all of the explant reviews! Literally freaked me out. How have you felt so far? Have they soften up? Been reading a couple of reviews that sientra implants take a "while" to soften up and aren't as squishy as other silicone implants.

November 13, 2016
Yes, those reviews scared the crap outta me. I did notice, a lot of them were saline, or the really old silicone. If that makes you feel better.
I played with the Sientra implants a lot in my docs office, and really liked their soft firmness. My doc pointed out that his older patients prefer the firmer feel, while his younger patients liked the softer squishier ones.
So far, I've got good movement already. They jiggle, and I can move the breast just fine. I squish on them everyday, and right now it's a half squish without pain. I've seen reviews where they're super squishy eventually, so I'm not totally worried. I have an appt tomorrow with my PS and was going to ask him about it. I feel great. I'm used to them enough now that they don't bug me at all over night, which is a huge improvement. I can say, I had worry those first few days, thinking I went too big...then at week three I begged them to stop shrinking. It's definetely a mind thing, and you can't really mentally prepare. I tried to research and hoped that would help, but instant size messes with you hard.

So glad you're sharing your journey with us! Do you think you'll be getting Sientra implants? It sounds like choosing the implant size wasn't too difficult. Feel free to join the October 2016 breast augmentation surgery forum for some pre op support. It's quiet now but it will be quite busy with helpful comments as we get closer to October. Just curious as to why you're getting surgery when your kids will be home versus at school? ;)
My husband is military, and any other surgery he's taken 1-2 weeks of leave, BUT he only has 16 months left in, so we are saving all his days so he gets about two months off before he's officially retired. Since he can't be home for two weeks to help get the girls to school, it's easiest on me to do the surgery three days before break starts, and hubby only has to take off 3 days and will have five days with me. Military math! :)
Thanks for the October link
Military math...I like it! Glad you can figure out the best solution for you and your family. Some women find it comforting to not wear tight shirts the first few months so you don't have to answer any questions the first few months back to school. Regarding your treadmill, follow your doctor's instructions and double up on sports bras until you're ready for just one sports bra. Love your review updates!
I've linked your doctor to your page. Let me know if the change is not correct! BTW, you are looking great...congratulations! (And take it easy even if you feel good!)
I know, my doc said I can start light workouts, but to really take it easy. going up two flights of stairs last week, almost killed me! I couldn't believe how tired it made me.
There is a physical therapist that just got hers done, and if I find her name, I'll write back with it.
Ya, you need time to recover...glad you're listening to your body!
